The rut is really starting to come on here, too bad it didn't happen during bow season! I`ve seen a handful of bucks chasing yesterday and today. Mark, have u been hunting rifle?

Hunted opening day had some small bucks chasing a doe around. Ended up shooting a doe later in the day. Hunted tonight with a buddy did a couple soft pushes saw two yotes. That's about it. Heading back to Ohio next week for gun season might try to get out with the bow for a couple sits before the opener.

Save your money, they're so thick that my feet were extremely tight cutting off the circulation making my feet colder instead of warmer.

Did you take out your liners? Mine work for a few hours and that's it.
    Well Team
Not sure how to say this, but I think I'm done unless we get some good weather for Saturday & Sunday. I was thinking how the heck would I get that deer out when I barely made it out today. That was my shortest trip to a stand today and it was hell getting in with 3 feet of snow. On my way out it was all drifted in,you couldn't even tell where I walked in. It got to +3 and felt like -25 with 40Kms wind. Lots of sign but no animals for the umteenth time! My heart is in it but dang, that's the 1st time in my life where I was beat by the elements. Thinking I'm going to start hunting Moose & Elk and make it early seaason for Deer till mid October. This ole body is giving up on me to the elements. Sorry guys, I'll let you know come Friday if I'm in still. I let my self down, more than that I let a team down. There's a 1st for every thing I guess. I'll be a cheer leader for the rest of it anyways
    Rocky

When buying boots for cold weather it isn't a bad idea to go up in size for this reason. Someone told me to do that at cabelas when I bought some pac boots. My feet never get cold. 2000 thinsulate. I think they were cabelas inferno or something like that. They are huge though.

Hunt if you want to and if you don't.... this isn't a real serious contest in my opinion. Do whatever will make you happy and don't worry about it.

Going up one size would be ideal but I have a big problem with that, I already where size 14's and they're near impossible to find. Anything bigger would be impossible.

Yeah, I took the liners out, I have huge feet and have a hard time finding boots with plenty of room to spare. I'll be hunting yet but my chances of killing anything significant are slim. I've only had one nice buck in front of me late season hunting and it was spooked by someone rifle hunting. The bucks are hunkered down right now due to pressure. Heck, the darn neighbor drove his truck right on the property line two days in a row this week hunting. I think my top three are dead already anyway, haven't seen any of them lately on trail cams.

Well might of just got a perk for the rest of my season. Found a new place that im gonna go check out tomorrow. Its only 14 acres bow only but its on nature center property. I guess the scoop is that there fundings are low and struggling so they wanted to lease out a wood lot for a little extra money. They say the property hasnt been hunted in over 30 years. To me this means the deer know its a safe area and with gun season up and going it sounds like a key area.

Haven't been archery hunting in a little while.

Tomorrow I am helping out a buddy. My roommate has never hunted deer before. I knew I wouldn't have a rifle tag for this year so I told him that if he drew a buck tag that I would take him out. Sure enough, he picked one up. So tomorrow morning we are headed out west to some public ground I am familiar with. I think I'm more excited about it than him!

That sounds like a dream scenario! So this means that you are renting it from them?

Yeah I would be leasing it. They get some money and I get to hunt property that may have some real good potential. Will see what it looks like tomorrow. Its not about how much property, it's about the right spot so hoping this safety area for 30 years will be that right spot

Well back to the drawing board. What Would have been a sweet deal fell through. They lease out anout 25 acre wood lot on the property and I guess people have been calling and complaining. Cops have been called cause people think they are sneaking in and hunting since there has been no hunting there for so long. Land owner decided that they where gonna let those guys finish up there season then call it. Guess they dont wanna deal with the hassel.

Happy Thanksgiving guys! Haven't been in the woods in over a week. We got a new addition to our family. A chocolate lab we named "Cash". He's a little over 7 weeks old. This will eventually be my shed hunting partner. Along with possibly trailing blood with me. Hoping to get out tomorrow morning and afternoon.

Going to roll up to Nebraska tomorrow and see if I can't give a decent buck a dirt nap. Will be hunting with a good friend. Still kicking myself for passing on the buck the first sit, (hour) when I started this adventure. :) Going to be hunting a great new property. I have a feeling... :) You ever get one of those??? I am wrong more often then I am right. Positive thoughts! One of use will have a buck in the back of the truck when we return home. :)

Love the dog BTW. Lost my chocolate lab a few years ago. Haven't had the heart to get another but I am coming around! Pics like this make it a little easier!
