I am not sure how lucky this is.... Seems this is the way things have been going for the team. It is good though you had a clean miss. By my account we need 400 points to catch back up to the leaders. Where are we going to come up with these points? How many of us haven't put a doe on the board?

400:sad: youngfart needs to knock down one of those toads :tu:
Still giving it hell on my end keeping my hopes high. Probably have a 2 or 3 weeks before the deer move off the lease, Hoping to make another trip north to the managed property, and as of now probably 95% sure will be making a trip to Missiouri after christmas. So hopefully between all that I will be able to put something down.

My hunting from here on out doesn't matter for the contest. Got a doe and buck registered.

Got close to 2 feet right now,so this will help me I think as the deer bed closer to the food source and I have some stands close. The temps have been brutal for the last few days also hitting almost -30, actually that's what it was this morning @5am. Saturday there calling for a low of -8 and a high of -1c boys, yahooooo ,I like that! This is what we get for the season for snow. I was thinking we might have a brown Christmas till last week! Sure bugs the crap out of me seeing all these guys knocking deer down and wharing no winter clothing and having no snow . can't wait for 2 more years to retire , Moving to either Arizona or Mexico.. Some place where I can still bow hunt, but in comfort! Getting the deer to group up already should benifit me and the bucks ! Temps for this week, Wed- hi -17,low-18,Thurs Hi-9,low-20 ,Snow,Fri Hi, -11,low-13,snow,Sat, hi 0,low-1,SunHi+1,low-15,Looks like killing weather to me guys :confused

No doe down for me, but my county doesn't allow for anterless harvesting this year because of last years EHD. I will get in a couple of hunts this weekend and then towards the end of Thanksgiving.

Fill all those doe tags and we are right back in it. That along with a couple good bucks might seal the deal. Positive karma!!! Be nice to hear from a few Boneheads that don't seem to hit this thread very often. :poke:

They are calling for a snow / sleet mix here Friday. I'll be back in the stand Friday night and Saturday. Our first real cold snap of the year.... High 34 Saturday with a low of 12. If I have that 200" buck in bow range again I might just cry. I'll take pictures for sure!

I'll be out this weekend too, probably Friday as well. I might even take the bow out and leave the rifle at the house. Two big bucks will have us back in this. :tu:

After a few weeks off while MN had the blaze army in the woods, I will be back out their Saturday. High of 21 and low of 7, I know that is nothing for youngfart, but with 15 mph winds that will be plenty cold for me.

I agree. Younfart. What are your tips for keeping warm. Would be interested to know how you layer and with what materials. I still sweat so bad getting into the stand and I absolutely hate carry in a bunch of crap with me to put on. I need to by a heater body suite and be done with it I suppose.

That's the ticket, bought mine 2 years ago, haven't had to use it this year yet. Was thinking this weekend, but it's warming up. I wear Sitka base layers 1st then full scent-lock thermal base layers 2nd ,3rd, full scent-loc 1 pce suit, finish it off with a full body one piece camo predator insulated suit. Add a fleece neck warmer and Muck boots with the new Thermal foot warmers insoles. That's till -15 after -15, I add the Heater Body Suit in fall brown Pedator. Wanted winter white Predator , but they stopped making winter white. Face stays open as does the ears, only wear the booney hat as I have in my picture in my avatar . Heck, you need to slow down walking into stand placement that's stop your sweating. If your sweating ,your walking to fast, add some time for your self to get in on time. The heater body suit is so quiet ,you wouldn't believe how quiet the full zipper is either. To get it undone you just open your arms outward and it unzipps with no noise.

    Also
Before I bought the Sitka base layers I used army issue wool pants that were heavy as hell but very warm, the sitka is the ones that are wind proof, that's the ticket to todays clothing, buy the clothing with wind proofing in it .Oh yeah I use for gloves a thermal skin type glove by Sitka under my Grey Wolf Woolen Mitt. These are a must for keeping warm They allow you to put your gloved hand with your trigger release on inside the Mitt by Grey Wolf . Hands have never been cold since I bought these 4 years ago. In this picture from 3 years ago you can see my mitts over my sitka gloves. Click on the pcture to make it larger.

I think my biggest issue with I have is most of my stands aren't pre-hung. It doesn't matter what I wear and how fast I walk when I carry 35+ pounds of gear with me. I could sweat just stranding still. I know I have to make some changes next year. All stands will need to be pre-hung.

I would look like a pillsbury doe boy if I hunted in those temps. Most of the time I just carry my jacket in and no sweat but if im runnning a little behind thats when I do. And im sure I have a much shorter walk then you Heck plus my sets are pre hung. Trying a new system this year for the cold, just picked up a Under Armour set of cold gear last night. Going to try and pick up there layering system tonight. UA does cost a little more but I feel like you will have less layers and not so bulkywhich is my biggest problem. Youngfart I like that glove system vs having to take off your gloves to shoot.

My only grievance with the heater body suit is the HUGE blob effect it creates. Think deer would be more likely to pick up on it...
