It was the same way last night here. In big oak tree that was moving. My first sticks are pretty high for first step and barely get around tree.

Kept thinking to myself....if this tree falls I'm going to wish I wasn't wearing this harness. Ha.

I had never inspected more trees and limbs around me than before yesterday.

alright this might get a little confusing. Tomorrows my last shot on this property until after gun opens. The picture is layed out with north at top. From what it seems this deer has been staying in the standing corn. Summer pics it seemed he was going from one corn field to the other. October pics seemed he was coming from the corn field to the south. Novemebr pics by the only standing corn left. tomorrow is calling for a wnw wind. I was thinking sitting one of the stands i got pics of him in November the further south pink dot for novemeber is where he showed up in daylight. corn maze.jpg PICT0001.jpg PICT0002.jpg PICT0019.jpg PICT0020.jpg PICT0032.jpg
    Red dots- stand sights
pink dots- location of pictures (wrote months next to them)
    brown- cut corn
    yellow- standing corn
    neon green- hay
    green- winter wheat
blue- creek bottom with trees along the whole way
gray- tilled up ground nothing planted
    orange- food plots

Did notice a mark on his back now. From fight, or arrow through the top of the spine maybe. Kinda worries me that's for sure.

I like the stand closets to the fork in the stream. Mature bucks love standing corn for cover and loves to eat green stuff (winter wheat) even more. Might catch him in there! Not sure how that works for wind! You know the land better then any of us! You do need some more stands on that property though. :p two places for certain I would want a stand as near as I can tell from the aerial!

That's the one I sat tonight. My guess is he's bedding in the standing corn. Being that its the only standing corn now with in two miles it might be a hot spot. Kinda debating there or the one to the north in the morning. The stand by the fork my wind would be blowing towards the corn. Debating if I want to risk it hoping to catch him before he heads back to bed and hope he's not in there yet. I need a ton more stands that's for sure. Where Are the locations you are thinking though heck

In the corner of timber to the west where the cut corn and winter wheat meat. You setting most of your stands on the field edges for the most part?

Yeah that's a spot I've noticed this year. Just trying to figure out the patterns better so I can get to to it without busting deer. Yeah I get pushed to the edges. All the wood lots are pretty open where you can see through them pretty good. Once the green dies off there is no cover on the ground floor besides a couple little spots. The wood lots are only a couple acres big to so I feel if I try getting in the middles I will be risking bumping deer out.

Yah I will say I like to set my stand off the edge of the fields a good 20 yards and cut lanes to shoot into the field.. What I have found is a lot of times deer will stage just inside the timber until dark and then enter the fields. Kind of get the best of both worlds this way! No doubt that buck will spend most of day light hours in one of the small wood lots once all the fields are cut! He's a dandy. Doesn't look real old. He'll be a giant if he lives through the season. I have my fingers crossed he doesn't! :)

Yeah I know what I mean the mature bucks will stick just inside the woods. The spots where summer pictures where at, the one to the north is in a little inlet so there they feel pretty safe coming out. Then the one to the south that stand is about 20 yards in on a logging road. Stands on the very edges I have noticed deer sticking just inside. Yeah you can really tell with these pics he's young 3 1/2 max. I would love to give deer a pass until 4 1/2 but here in Michigan the percentage of deer killed 4 1/2 and older is real real low so 3 1/2 is considered mature getting out on the hit list. Like I told u before the deer leave during the winter so it makes it really hard to manage a herd. I'm hoping with food plots and little pressure this year on the property will help them remember and come back the following year

Started of good with 2 does @8:15 then the snow started and it's still going strong. Temps dropped to 14 by the time I left @5:10pm. If your going to by those insteps that are battery operated, there only good to maybe 15 then they lose all heat. Oh yeah there only good for 4 hours. I didn't turn them on till 11 this morning. Not going out in the am as it'll be snowing still and it's suposed t drop to +2F over night, High of 12F and snow. Thinking I might sneak out if it tapers off in the afternoon. Deer should be on there feet to feed after the snowfall. Blows my mind I didn't see any bucks yesterday. Good luck guys.

Congrats scarps looks like a solid 130 to me. Got back from Ohio last night no tag filled :( Didn't see as many deer as I usually see? Spent most of my time trying to kill a big eight. He was right there just couldn't put it together. Saw him once while on stand. Spooked him walking out yesterday morning was bedded 120 yards from me. Unfortunetly that's about it for bowhunting for me NY gun opens next weekend. I will be heading back to ohio for there gun week will try to bowhunt the day before opener I have a doe tag that is only good til gun starts. Heres a few pics of the 8. Good Luck!

That's a great 8 Mark, to bad it didn't come together, curious what he would have scored. Taking today off and getting ready for the am as the winds will be right for the funnel stand that I have seen so many bucks come from over the years and never made the attempt to walk back there and scout it out. Sat there twice this year and have had 5 & 2 does pass bye but had no shot. Really need to see a buck tomorrow or I'll be pulling my hair out. It's stopped snowing and the bucks and deer will be on their feet eating and the bucks will be close bye. Thinking it could start any day now up here. Last year on the 14th I tore my rotator cuff muscle right of the shoulder bone drawing on a Bull Moose @ 9 yards on the fourth attempt. Let's not go there! :argue: Wish me luck ,cause if you don't have a little of that, then your going no where! :hail:

Well seen two skunks, for the bill pretty good for getting skunked. Well that's pretty much it for the farm won't be able to hunt out here until after the opening weekend of gun. After that chances get real slim since the deer tend to move off the property around thanksgiving. Guess I shouldn't of took the camera and shot slick the first time he came in. Two years in a row I have done that. Last year had my ex hunting with me and had a 140 11pt with a doe could of shot him 100 times before he came into her bow range but decided to wait wanting her to shoot him. She ended up hiring just above the spine so non lethal. Idk if I can be so nice next year haha. Back to work tomorrow then heading two hours north after work. A guy off of this site wants some pointers and has a connection to 4,700 acres with a 120" minimum. Tuesday will be hunting that property and trying to show him a thing or two during the down time. Have no clue about this property so not sure how things will go, going to be starring at areal views all day tomorrow At work

I've never had a day start off so awesome and end so poorly. I was out the door at 4 am this morning. Back at the same property in Nebraska. I got in there a little late as it was already getting light getting into my stand. I figured between that and the wind I would see a hole lot of nothing. Boy was I wrong. Between daylight and 10 AM I saw 10 does, 4 bucks, and a spike. 2 of the 4 bucks were shooters. I sat in the same place as last time and observed the exact same deer movement. At around 8:30 I am observed some chasing. 9:30 I hit the horns and sure enough a wide 8 came charging in from some 200 yards out. I didn't have enough cover and he hung up at 60 yards. He was looking for a buck but just wasn't buying it.....

I just wasn't in the right spot to make it happen. I knew if I was going to get a crack at anything I would need to move to the opposite corner of the field some 250 yards away. Around noon I made the move.

That's where the story stops. I didn't see anything in the evening hours! No idea what happened. The wind was right. Sure wish I could hunt that draw all these deer keep feeding into in the morning! Back to the drawing board.... Not sure that place is setup so I can kill one without getting just plain lucky. No good way in there!

Also saw two yotes, some turkeys, and a opossum.
