On our way home from Nebraska and we don't have any deer in the truck. 2 days of solid 25 mph did us in. We didn't even hunt this morning. We averaged only 1 deer per sit between the 2 of us. Tonight was as close to perfect and I only saw one doe at last light. I tried everything to make it happen. The buck I should have shot Saturday night didn't look at all swollen. Going to give it 10 days and head back. Hopefully by then they have the crops cut! Can't believe howi much corn is still standing.

I haven't checked in for awhile but I have been hunting pretty hard....just nothing to show for it yet. But I have a lot of season left and our rut doesn't kick in until late November. I am gonna take a little rest from hunting to get in some snow skiing (my #1 passion), but will be back on there within a couple of weeks. I posted some pics in regular forum, FWIW.

8 pointer came by. Nice young deer. Not a shooter.

Raining here today. Taking a little breather... More for my wife and kids then anything. :p May hunt a little the tail end of this week locally before heading back to NE. Looks like you all are starting to have great encounters! Hunt like every day was the last day of the season until the tags are signed and punched!

Just got a text from my dad saying big buck in our pasture. Now the dilemma of where to sit tomorrow morning after the snow tonight. There is an abundance of does in both prospected stands.

I know where I would be when there is snow on the ground! The spot with the most timber!

Well beautiful morning with a slight breeze. Had one smaller 8pt bumping some does around the first hour of light. Caught a glimpse of another deer but not sure what it was. At about 8 I looked over my and noticed a deer coming through a thick patch then when he piped out noticed it was a good buck. Once he got closer knew it was slick. He ended up come by on a steady pace at 40 yards with not real clear shots. When he was coming in it looked like he was broke on one side and after watching the footage it was confirmed he broke off right past his g2 on the side with the crab claw. Got a double kick this morning with that buck. Seen him Sunday and he still had all his points.

Bummer... Sounds like may want to pass on him until next year assuming he makes it through the season this year!

That would be what I would typically do but last year was my first year on this property and the farmer told me the deer leave during the winter and I didn't believe it but I confirmed it last year that for some reason all the deer leave during the winter months. Could be because the woods are open so they don't have much cover in the cold months. I passed on some 120 deer last year hoping they would come back but I haven't seen one deer this year from last year. It's really weird never have seen something like it. It's gonna be tough decision if the chance presents it self

Just saw a big buck driving to Des Moines. Middle of nowhere standing by himself in the rain.

Checking the cam by my stand today showed that 1 and 2 on the hit list were right in front of my stand during daylight hours yesterday while I was at work.

I'd love to do some hunting in the white stuff, doesn't happen too often down here.
