By my account team 23 just put another buck down this morning!

We have lots of work to do!

Boof...Maybe the last hit wasn't fatal and you will get another crack at him! They are tough animals!

Early team leads shouldn't mean too much. Lots of good hunting left. Too bad some of you guys have the orange armies coming soon.

Just got out hunting. Saw a buck on trail on way in. Tried to back up over hill and sneak up but never saw him again. Quick glance he looked alright but who knows. Good luck out there.

I've got one more sure day of work on Monday and I have my fingers crossed that I'll be off a couple of weeks after that. I hunted something like 25 days last October, feels weird only hunting the weekends this season. I'll be in stand at sun up tomorrow.

Saw two bucks tonight, they were moving early!

My trail cameras gave me a lot of good news. Deer are moving in the daylight and there are some new deer around. Check out this stranger. Definitely the biggest deer I have ever had on camera.

Just two bucks. A spike and a deformed old buck. Both were just out of bow range. No worries though, I am feeling good about the morning hunt.

1 doe so far today. Had a deer blow quite a bit away from me. Doe I saw was very nervous when she came by.

I'm guessing you nocked an arrow as soon as you crossed the state line. Good luck on your trip.

This morning I had one of my best sits, ever. As I said earlier, this was my first time in the bedding area all year. I usually leave this stand for the rut and today seemed like a good morning to bust it out.

The first hour was frustrating. Shooting light is at 7:30, I didn't see my first deer until 9:00. The movement started off with a couple basket racks, both came to 10 yards. Then a doe came, but no bucks behind her.

At about 9:30 one of my target deer came along the river at about 80 yards, he is a solid 4x4. He was headed to bed. I grunted at him and he stopped, looked around, did some lip curling and then made a scrape. After that he made his way toward bed again when I sent another grunt at him. This time he circled around upwind (weird) of my stand and made another scrape. He was rubbing his glands on everything in sight, this time at 50 yards.

Then to my right was a deer I haven't seen before, a heavy 5x5. He kept down the trail back to the bedding area. It was a quick glimpse of him, but I couldn't pay much attention because the other buck was still right in front of me.

The 4x4 then circled around me again, this time to 30 yards. He stood there for about 10 minutes. He was behind some brush and a small tree the whole time. All he needed to do was take a couple more steps and I would have had a shot. He never did. After making a THIRD scrape he headed back to the bed. I was pretty bummed he never gave me a shot, but what an awesome show.

One of those big fellas will make a mistake one of these mornings.

Here is the 4x4 that I had an encounter with. He has been lighting up my camera for the last week. Here is the best picture I have of him.

Had a great morning even though I had no sightings. Rattled 3 times, no response. No deer up and around, thinking it might be early yet! I did have a few does bleating to one another but wouldn't come when I bleated back. Started to drizzle at 12 ,then the snow started at 2:30 and I left @3:30. Calling for a weather advisory to stay off the roads as were about to get dumped on all at once. 20 ctm over night into the afternoon Sunday. I'll go back in mid afternoon when it stops. The deer will be on their feet then to eat. To bad I had a good felling this morning. Changing all my camo to winter white by Predator for tomorrow and packed and charged my new Therma Cell insoles to see how warm they'll be in my Mucks. Hope they'll be good enough for -20. If not I'll have to break out the Heater Blanket bag! They'll be all right then!!! Good luck to those hunting tomorrow. Oh yeah, with all the snow were getting, the bucks should be up and freshing there scrapes.
