Rocky, it didn't pull the bow out of my hand. But this stand is only about 15 feet up, so by the time I got to the end of my 25foot cord, I had some trees and limbs bent over! lol I woke up this morning and decided not to hunt, still pretty discouraged. My poor dog came down with cancer about a month ago, so I`ve gotta burry her today, pack for OH, go trick or treating with the baby. Good luck hunting guys! We are coming into prime time now, the deer are gonna start hitting the dirt!

Saw one nice 8 point. 130 plus for sure. Maybe 140. Pretty slow though. 9-10 deer total. Most all late.

Should have shot a coyote late, but didn't see him soon enough. Kissed at him and got him to stop but no shot.

We finally had a significant rain today, the first since early July. The creek has been bone dry for a couple of months now. Hopefully the water in the creek well keep deer around like past years. Last year I'd see 20+ deer in a sit, this year I've seen no more than a couple on average. It's been quite a disappointing year so far. Last year I'd watch deer travel back and forth from the creek to the woods eating acorns and going back in for a drink. I'm almost caught up at work to the point I can take some time off, unfortunately it's darn near rifle season.

I got my two does already :)
Going out Saturday night and Sunday morning. Gun season starts on the 9th here in MN, so I want to try and take some time off next week if needed before 400k blazies hit the woods.

To be honest! I've drawn on one and it was a fawn, truly haven't had the oppertunity just yet. Another thing, I'm just not seeing the deer during day light hours. Temps are way above normal,no snow! Where's it end? Not being able to hunt the way I used to with 3 weeks holidays, now I'm relagated to hunting weekends as of today! Excuses??? Yes but viable, complaining? Yes ,but that will change November 8th till the 14th!
Now go Kill another buck Heck!

Who is in the stand today? Will be leaving late tonight for NE! Maybe a Halloween buck will be a day late for the team! I would settle for any deer! Seems like they are really starting to move a bit more across the country. Lot more bucks hitting the dirt and road kills! Get after them boyz!

Well yesterday was just a total disappointment.

Sat from 6-11 and saw nothing. Not even a squirrel. Went home and ate and charged the phone and was on to a different stand by about 12:15. All I saw up until a half hour before dark was a snapping turtle. Half hour before dark I see three does. Definitely was not what I had expected what so ever.

I was in the right area too because Wednesday night (night before all day sit) I had the number one buck on my hit list walk past the camera and my stand at 5 yards..at 430 in the afternoon.. One day too late :(

Not to mention my hand warmers were about as warm as half defrosted steaks and it didn't rain at all until my 500 yard walk back to the truck and it poured with a 0% chance of rain. I wouldn't be so disgruntled but we have 1000 acres of tillage left and are going 24 hour shifts starting today and slug season starts on the 9th. Anyone who doesn't understand what that means, well, it means goodbye to any sort of rutting tendencies and hello non stop running of the deer. Not to mention I almost got shot one year while ripping in the middle of a cornfield..

Just one of those days! Sorry had to vent!

Only bright side to this story is I now have a new number 1 that showed up.

Woodsy- man tough break with both things. Hopefully your luck will change.

Boof- I wish that would be true

Quick update for u guys. Didn't get out yesterday rained for over 24 hours. Had 30mph winds this morning so didn't see anything moving around. The farmer started cutting up a tree that was blocking the road by are stand so we climbed down ate lunch and moved to another stand where slick was using a mock scrape. Seen some fresh big buck tracks and the mock scrape had been hit since the rain. Got in the stand and set up by 1:30 about 2 decided to do a few grunts and bleats, about a min later heard branches break and turned around real slow and slick was standing 40 yards away. By the time I turned around and my buddy got his bow he was turned and heading into the thicket stuff. Encounter number 2 in bow range and again no shot, dang deer is working us. Got NW wind tomorrow so gonna try to get in on turkey foot as long as the rain holds off

Back home for the weekend. Today's weather has sucked. It has been 25 mph winds all day and then we got a rain/hail shower this afternoon. The wind is supposed to be rocking until dark.

I will sit in the same stand that I shot that buck out of about three weeks ago. It's my first time back on this property since then.
