Good luck out there this weekend. Have to go to Chicago this weekend. Trying to get back early for a Sunday evening hunt. Need pictures of big deer to get me through the concrete jungle this weekend.

Just started corn last night so I doubt I'll be getting out too much in the near future

Crazy to think one year ago we had corn and soybeans harvested by October 1st and every piece of tillage done by October 15th.

Alright in stand and settled in now. So here's the low down. Slick(9pt) showed up by are pines stand last Friday half hour after legal shooting time in the morning. Showed back up working a mock scrape the 14th around 5:30 then again the 16th during legal shooting time in the morning. During those off days he was on the south side of the farm going by are other cameras late night. Last night we got some rain so hoping he comes back by on his 2 day schedule and freshens up the scrape. Perfect wind for this stand tonight.
Now turkey foot is still moving late at night so we are staying out of his area until he starts to show some day light activity. I am filming tonight because my partner wants a shot at slick and wants me to get turkey foot so where trying to get him this deer and then focus on the big boy with me in front of the camera. With a little luck things might work out.

I hope to see some Kodak moments this weekend as well.

I went out this morning to recover a doe I thought I smoked last night. I shot her in the twilight hours at 22yards, or so I thought. It appeared at the time I had a clean pass through. I watched her bolt about 60 yards and stand in a ditch for about 10 minutes. As light faded I saw her trot off over the hump into a bean field .

After dark I got down out of the stand to take a look at my arrow. I couldn't find it! I was using a lighted knock and the dang think went off on impact. To add to my dismay I couldn't find a drop of blood. I went to where I last saw her in the ditch and found 2 specks of blood. Something just wasn't adding up. I backed out and went back to find my arrow as I knew I had to find it to get a idea of how good I hit her. I looked for 30 minutes! Being I couldn't find my arrow I decided to wait until this morning with the overnight temps being in the high 30s. I didn't sleep well last night. Just hate the thought of losing any animal.

I took my boys out this morning and found my arrow within minutes. Not a drop of blood, liquid, fat, or hair on it! I looked a bit more and found a small amount of brown hair . I went back to the ditch to look for more blood and didn't find any.

I share this stand with a friend. I called him this morning and described what had happened. When I told him what happened he chuckled. Turns out he thinks that is the same doe he missed 7 days earlier.

After we discussed what happened I believe she dropped more then I thought and turned hard towards me on release. I think my arrow grazed the top of her neck. I am 99.9% confident she lives! I am so grateful!

We have nicknamed her Bionic D for her lighting fast reflexes. You can bet if I see her again I will settle my pin on the bottom of her heart! ;)

Things have changed from when I said I was baby sitting my Grandkids next weekend while the Ladies fly off to Vegas. My daughter's hubby is going to take them and not work, so I'll be sitting in my stand for all day sits. Got to start to get my rump ready for the rutt! Post rutt should be on it's way via 2 weeks , bodies will be falling, let's just hope there our deer for our team LOL.
Got a bone to pick after shooting tonight and will send them an email tomorrow. I bought two sets of Ramcats Broadheads and love them. I was hearing some rattling noise as I was pulling them from my target and as I touch the broadhead one of the 3 blades fell off. I try and screw it back in and couldn't,I check the other 2 blades and the same thing. I check my other 2 broadheads in my quiver and the same damn thing. How do minute little screws come lose after being transported numerous times and shot a heck of a lot? I have never had a broadhead come undone where I at least could not tighten it back up. These fly the best out of any broadhead I have shot too. There razor sharp and cut on both sides of the blade so when it backs out of the deer it's cutting too. I'll change heads and put the other 3 on tonight and see how long before they come lose. I got them at the start of last year.Go figure Huuh!

Put in three more hours of searching for my deer yesterday, nothing. Checked both sides of the river, too. I was hoping crows or vultures would be on him by now if he was in the area but there was no sign of that. That puts me up to nine hours of searching, six of those hours with two other people. Not sure what there is left to do, I felt like I covered everything yesterday.

Today I'm going out pheasant hunting. It's South Dakota's opener, which is only second to Christmas in this area. I might get back out archery hunting tonight.

Sorry I haven't given more updates on this situation. I'm pretty ashamed of the whole thing.

Those are some dream bucks. Don't think I've ever had a buck on camera that would go over 150. Good luck!

Well I sat till 11 and another zero on the wall. Went for a walk and changed my SD @ my TC because I hadn't changed it since the last week of Sept. Found the bull Moose I had @ 40 yards on it in my Raxx sight. Good bull too. One doe and that's it, might be because the farmer cleared the feilds then too. They could have moved to the west feild. Might get out tonight too, winds were perfect in the morning till 8:20 then they went up to 45kms, still stayed till 11, I just hung on real good lMAO.

I've seen my target buck three Saturdays in a row now in the exact same spot. Unfortunately, he's always 20 yards over the fence on the neighbors property. :(
