Well if its ruff for you then it was really ruff for him. He's got to be close!

Good luck Woodys! We have some ground to make up! Team 10 took a heck of a run on us!

What the cost of a Covert Black ops is? Looking for 2 for next year, maybe I'll wait till the season is over and get a reduced price, probably better to do it that way huh!
    Rocky a bye Baby!

Here is the pic of where it went down. The tack is where my stand is, the red circle is where he was shot.

First he ran about 50 yards to the end of the first arrow. Then he ran to the bank of the river. Where the dashed arrow ends is where I last saw him. I think it is safe to day he made it across, but I can't absolutely confirm it. I was able to follow his blood from where I shot him until three feet from the river bank. I know it doesn't look very bad on the aerial, but words can't describe the other side of the river.

Friday I will be out looking for him, possibly Saturday, too. Come this weekend, would a blood tracking dog be of any help? There will be no blood to follow, but the carcass should give off a good smell. The forecast has rain for today and tomorrow, sunny after that.

After using Google ruler to measure the distances here is what I have. He ran 25 yards, stopped. He then ran 15 yards to the river bank and stopped. Then he swam across the river which is 50 yards wide.

That's too bad on the rain. Get as many people as possible to try to search the area when you can get back there. Dogs could still help this weekend too. I'm guessing by the weekend it will be only bone left so finding birds circling might be tough. At least that is how it would be in our area with coyotes and eagles. Could be different where you are at.

I think you have about 6 acres to cover. The timber is about 125 yards wide. If its as thick as you say it is I would start there first. Looks to be pretty flat. Might want to work downstream first though unless you had any indication he went the other way. Of course this is kinda like running a war from Washington D.C. Do what your instincts tell you to do! You need 10 or so guys to make quick work out of it. Also if you have a GPS might be best to plan your grid. Or at least record your track!

I would honestly check the yellow area. If he was hit good like you think, 90 feet is quite a ways to cross a river, regardless of the flow. He may have hit current and got swept into the opposite bank (X), climbed up shore and is laying dead in the row of trees. That is my opinion.

Wish I could come help ya.

Good luck finding him boof. Do you know for sure he made it across the river? I'd be afraid he finished his life floating down the river.

Won't be making it out this entire week. Small possibility that I may make it out Sunday evening.

I expect to see some deer down. I'm living through your deer experiences and stories this week. Good luck this week.

Well I (hopefully we) will try not to let you down. I have some cloths in the wash right now. Going to try it in the morning. This will be my first morning sit of the year. Going to be pretty frosty here. Going to start sitting couple times a week in the morning to start acclimating to the lower temps.

Curious to see how these Lacrosse Aerohead boots do in the lower temps. I hope my feet don't freeze. I guess I won't know until I try it!

Back to the stand for me this afternoon. Shortly after getting into the stand yesterday, I had a dog come barreling out of a big swamp where the deer bed. He ran right under me, and stomped the whole area around me flat before heading back into the swamp. I was pretty discouraged, but abot half an hour before dark I had a nice shooter for this area come strolling in but e was out of range. We`ll see what tonight brings.

In the stand. Just waiting on light. A curious neighbor kind of flicked all up for me this morning. Will see how it goes.
