I am going to roll out here in a bit for a afternoon/evening sit. Going to try to take a doe on camera. I am going try Nebraska the second week in October, weather, job, and family permitting.

That is awesome. You could tell he was a stud with the pictures.

I should be able to get a doe on the board for us for sure. Shouldn't say that, but we have a lot of does. I'm going to try to hold out for a nice buck. Time will tell if I get lucky or not. Something probably bigger than 140 range. Unless I think it looks cool and depending on the date.

I ruffed him at 162 ,but like you said the angle and hight was a deception right of the bat, that's awesome Heck he scored that good, I need to get out and see if I nocked my sight out of wack when I fell the other day and threw it 30 feet so as I wouldn't fall on it. Good luck to the guys getting thier feet wet this weekend, should be a good one, I'm hoping to call in a good Bull Moose this weekend as their rutt kicks of any day now till the mid of October.

I'll need to make this opening weekend count. The following week is my college's homecoming, so not much hunting will get done then. Once October hits I tend to get caught up in pheasant hunting, waterfowling and paddlefishing. Hopefully I get some encounters this weekend that will motivate me to keep archery as top priority.

Good luck on the moose rut Rocky. Just talked to a friend that elk hunted in Colorado. Their guide got separated from them. Found him two hours later. Said the guide got chased by some moose. That would scare the you know what out of me.

Good luck this weekend everyone hunting. My first day to hunt is Tuesday. I was planning on hunting, but made a late appointment that night without thinking. Wednesday evening will be my first sit. I've never been this anxious to get a some meat on the ground. Mature doe is my number one target. I bought a havalon knife and I'm really anxious to see how it works.

You'll love the havalon knife, you'll also wonder how you ever skinned an animal before with a regular knife.

You will love the havalon! I caped out the last buck I shot with my new Piranta Bolt. It's even better then the torch I used last year. I also have the fillet / de-boning knife and it's awesome as well!

Sounds like some EHD signs are popping up in our area. Heard the DNR shot a 170 inch buck this past week about 30 miles away from where I hunt. It just kept going in circles and was messed up. DNR has seen a couple other cases too. That stuff scares me.

Talked to another guy that got a picture of a bear in our area. Not a great picture. Probably passing through. Not common to see at all. Occasionally a mountain lion or bear will pop up on trail cams in the area. Seems like every couple years.

Going out tonight to patch up my dads box blind that the squirrels have been chewing holes in. I'll pull the cards Sunday from cams and wait until Wednesday. Getting extremely antsy to sit in a tree stand with a bow.

It will be well into November before I'll see the sunrise from a deer stand on a weekday. :(

Opening morning was a wet one. I passed on a small buck at 10 yards. I didn't have much activity besides that. Not sure yet what the rest of the weekend will hold. Some kind of combination of duck and deer hunting will be in order.
