Another quiet night till I walked out, almost got trampled,LMAO, I scared the behebe's out of 4 bucks on there way out to the feild as I was walking out. I flat out fell flat on my face trying to figure out what just happend. Actually fell over a stump and I threw my bow away ahead of me so I would'nt fall on it. I'll be siteing it in again to see If I knocked any thiing out of line. Any ways I walked in a mile just to change an SD card I haven't been able to get too so far this season, was hoping to see Double Dx4 but the senile ole hunter in me forgot the SD cards back in the cab of the truck. Guess I'll be sitting their Saturday morning now. I also need to get a new ratchet strap to tighten my stand to the tree. Man it was all over with every movement while I was in there tonight. Not good. At the last watering hole on my way out I counted 14 deer drinking as it was another warm one tonight, but cooled off a lot on my walk out. I could see my breath. Got a good feeling about Saturday AM!

Good luck! I won't be out for a few days now because we've got some last minute machinery to service and get ready before harvest.

Awesome buck Heckler! Very cool. Is Kansas a one buck tag state? Just wondering if you are limited to doe hunting here on out. Friend of mine and I were talking the other day and he said he didn't want to shoot a big buck early on since his hunting would be over. I said if he is big you shoot whenever and be happy for a shot.

    Art....Good work on doe.

Art & Boof...Those bucks are very cool. Good luck to the both of you in getting them

Well from what I thought would be a easy hunt to tag a doe this weekend turned into getting are butts whooped. My filming partner bought a house this summer on 30 acres with a bunch of thickets and oak flats, so we hunted there all weekend. The place is covered with beat down paths everywhere but for some reason the activity was really slow. With all the leaves on the trees still it made it hard to see past 40 yards so out of the whole weekend we where only able to catch a few glimpse of deer passing through out of range. 7 days until are archery opener so hopefully will be able to get back on some deer out on are lease

Yes, Kansas is a 1 buck state... It has always been a thorn in my side. Last year I past on quite a few bucks early in the season only to end the season with a big goose egg. To be honest I was probably a little pre-mature choosing to take a buck less then a week into the season and I am sure the outcome of last season had allot to do with that! I don't have any regrets though. The buck has lots of character, good sized, and it will be my first short haired mount ever!

Did I also mention that I hung the stand, trimmed the lanes, and killed him all in the same night? And that it was on Public land as well? For me that was quite the accomplishment!

Fortunately for me Nebraska is just hop and a skip. About a hours drive. Out of state archery tags are cheap and they can be purchased over the counter.

The public part is pretty cool...along with the hanging and shooting in the same day. That buck is nice and I believe you would be nuts to pass up.

Buddy of mine showed me a picture of a nice 8 point he found dead today. No visable injuries that he could see. Hoping it isn't EHD.

Heck that is awesome! Any public land deer is great, especially a giant with your bow!

Opening morning for me is Saturday. I will be on stand, but most of the movement in the area I'll be hunting has become nocturnal. I think the window has closed to get a buck still in summer patterns for me.

Friday I'll be hanging stands and checking cameras in western South Dakota. That is an area I won't get to hunt for another three weeks.

Got hang on stand hung last night. New tree for the stand. Had a stand in this finger the last 2 years. Got some nice cover to the spot. Only thing I'm worried about is it isn't very high up. Guessing 12 feet. Should work to kill a doe. Killed a 130 8 point two years out of this finger. Only problem is we hunt this finger a lot and it gets heavily pressured.

2nd stand I won't be hunting until Halloween. I've only hunted that stand one time and killed buck last year on Halloween. Last year was first time it has been bow-hunted ever. Usually where I get my better pictures of bucks. I'm the only person that will pressure this area so I try to save until pre-rut or rut. Hope to get lucky over there again.

    Good luck Saturday Boof.

Heck- nothing better then hanging a stand and tagging a deer in the same day, and for that being a public land deer just makes it that much better. congrats again

    Good luck this weekend boof

Ur not kiddin! I`ve had deer in my yard all week. Yesterday, I had 2 does standing 5 yds from my target. I went out and tossed some bottles in the recycling bin and they just watched me from about 35 yards away. Talk about rubbing it in...

Yea really! I`ve got a few decent bucks on the TC for the past couple months , decent for this area anyways. Hopefully things work out on a decent 8 ive been getting pics of. Looks like I should be parked in a stand in ohio the first couple weeks of November. I`ve gotta say though, the hunting out there is way different than it is here

I had some news to share with you guys. The buck I killed is much larger than I initially thought. The buck has been scored by a 3rd party and it scored 174 1/8 net! It is going to be scored by another person tomorrow at that time I will provide a gross score!

After Heck's deer is entered, it looks like we should have a solid 80 point lead!

I probably won't be entering a doe this year. EHD hit the areas I hunt last year and it has limited the archery tags in my county. If any points come from me, it will have to be a buck.
