Well, hopefully this is a good sign for this season. While practicing this afternoon, I shot my very first robin hood! The bad news is that instead of 3 practice arrows I now have 1. I actually have my 4 hunting arrows and 1 extra that I can use for target practice so I guess I can use it and have 4 arrows for hunting and 2 for practice. I might also pick up some more arrows the next time I have a chance. Only 20 more days until I get to go bow hunting! Can't wait!

Congrats, but that gets expensive. I never shoot at the same dot unless im 40+ yards away.

Things are looking good. I made a quick trip to Kentucky yesterday to check my stand sites. This close to season we didn't do much walking around. We just checked the trees and made sure they were still good.

My "honey hole" where I killed my 136" buck last year is looking fantastic. We gained access to another property so we went and gave it a quick look. It's all bean fields and small patches of woods and it looks really good, but I'm not sure how often I'll get over there. It's crawling with deer, but the woods are extremely thick and climbing trees are few and far between. I did pick out a spot that's in a fantastic funnel/crossing. The sign is unreal and no-one has been hunting this property for quite some time. Well, no-one has been hunting it with permission anyway.

Even though the KY season opens this weekend I'm going to skip it. I'm not too anxious to get out there and sweat. The next weekend I'll be in Monterey, CA for my daughter's graduation from the Defense Language Institute. That means my first sit will be at my "honey hole" in Kentucky the weekend of the 20th. The next weekend I'll hunt behind my house in Tennessee where I put in the small kill plot.

    After that, who knows?

Here's a pic of the new stand location. All of the cleared areas are soybeans.

Man it would be cool to be hunting on Saturday! Although I like having season run to Mid January. Been working hard getting stands buttoned up and ready to go. Got about 20 done so far with about 30 more to go... The heat we have been having lately is making it not very fun!

I always have Arkansas. Bow season there runs until the last day in February. Let's see, what is that total between the states? Opener in KY is 6 September and the last day in Arkansas is 28 February. That's one week short of six whole months of hunting that I can do.

What was looking like a very promising season is turning sour real fast. Today i went to check the food plot and change cards in my camera only to find food plot looks dead and only 8 pics on camera. ive been averaging 50 a week for the past 3 months until i put up my feeder. My wife bought me a feeder a week ago and i thought it was awesome bc i didnt have to carry corn in all the time. Well the deer dont seem as amused, everyone of the deer act spooked around it and i have less pics bc of it. Season starts in 3 days and now my deer are on edge. Still going to add points to our total, might just take longer than i had expected.
