Hey B Hicks, did you post that big boy on the scorecard? Get us in the board! Here's the link: ***Official 2017 Scorecard*** https://r.tapatalk.com/shareLink?ur...&share_tid=90292&share_fid=26204&share_type=t Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Wow! That is a great early season buck (...or anytime for that matter!)!! Congrats! Like others have said, be sure to post to the scoreboard, and I'd love to hear your story.
I find myself on here a lot. Maybe I think by reading about hunting it will make hunting season come quicker! Any of you guys hunt early season mornings. Mornings are primarily when I've hunted in the past. I've killed some does early season doing this. Haven't seen many or killed any bucks this way. The more podcast I listen to the more I realize why this is a risky move and it's better to hunt early season evenings instead. Which is my plan this year. But wanted to get your input. Sorry. Been crazy at work this week. I will get posted on score board this weekend. Have not put a tape to it Probably somewhere in the upper 140s. Good mass all the way through.
My wife an I both hunt but since we had kids now I always take the morning hunts an she takes the evenings. I have seen bucks early season in the morning but the older bigger bucks seem to like the evenings better Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
I will try to get photos loaded on the scorecard thread. The mass really made this buck score more than I thought, along with the abnormal points. 156 and change.
Yeah, not my best but I will definitely have him mounted. I have watched that buck all summer and thought that he would be good when he first started growing. Won a $600 Reconyx from Trophy Rock with him in their July trail cam contest so he was good to me, lol. He went nocturnal right before season opened, and he was showing up an hour after dark first two days of season. I didn't hunt the third day (labor day) because of a get together and while at the party, my Covert was sending me pics of him an hour before dark. I had a perfect wind the next afternoon and was hopeful that he would show again. Had seen multiple deer the two previous sits, and nothing showed except a little 4 pointer and it was getting late. I was about to climb down when I heard a limb pop and then caught a glimpse of him easing down a ridge. It took him a while but he came in just with enough shooting light left in the woods for the shot. Quartering away shot and I didn't like the looks of the arrow and hardly any blood. Decided to back out and not push him. Went in the next morning and he had only went about 70 yards.
