I am back from Virginia visiting my son at Virginia Tech. I got to see the Hokies put a whooping on the NC Tarheels. Nice stadium and a great entrance for the team. (Metallica Enter Sandman). Now that I am back home in Wisconsin it is time to get back to business and get my arse out hunting. I see today we have a wind advisory so this may suck. At least I should be able to sneak in on this small piece of public land near me that nobody hunts yet and put up a stand. Then Friday morning after work 7 am a quick nap then at 11ish a 3 hour drive to my parents and hunt that afternoon and Saturday morning. Then back home for a afternoon hunt. Then a kick butt Halloween party that night but no hunting Sunday morning. We'll see about Sunday afternoon. That is my update for now. Good Luck all! No sleep for me! lol

I shot a nice doe at last light yesterday (16 yards), but didn't make the best shot....liver and paunch :(
I was able to find her this morning, and the meat seems fine. I will try to get her posted to the scoreboard.

Damn it I had a real nice buck at 60 yards or closer but just wouldn't come into my setup. I am pretty sure I got him patterned for now so I will be back at it this afternoon.

I’ve been laying low fellas haven’t been in the stand since Monday night. My stuff should be electric in the next 3 weeks - I think I will get something done.

Good job guys. I haven't had much time in the woods yet, either. Going on a pig hunt this weekend down in Iowa. It is actually more like pork shopping with a weapon. I go with my buddies every year and come home with around 200 lbs of fantastic pork.

Got it done tonight! Got it all on film which I’ll post later on. He came in at 4:40pm and went up a trail. I was hunting on a buddy’s property in a stand I’ve never been in before. Thank the Lord I had climbed down and trimmed a spot about 30 yards away that gave me a single window on this path. This buck came in quick went up that path, I drew back and he stopped before the window. I held for at least a minute. Finally he took the step I needed and I drilled him in the front should angling back to the heart. He tore over the steep hill and went about 70 yards and crashed hard. I’ve hunted with a compound bow 8 years. This is my first buck with a compound...and my new Matthews Mission to boot. He won’t score super high but he’s a special deer to me. Had a lot going on this year and my daughter has hip surgery scheduled for Nov 6. So it feels amazing to get it done early. I’ll try and get the score tomorrow at the taxidermist and then I’ll post him to the score page. Good luck guys! It’s heating up!!! [IMG]

Buck scored 96 1/8. Figured he wouldn’t make 100. But I’m proud nevertheless. Hope it’s not an issue but I had the taxidermist score him. I had no idea how to score him especially since he was non typical. Taxidermist just sent me the score...no scoresheet. Not sure if that’s required. He’s entered.
