Summer came back this weekend. Last week it was in the 40s to 50s in the morning, low 70s for the high. The last couple days, the heat index has been 101. Thank God it’s 5 weeks until season.

Good luck boys get us rolling! I have another month of waiting before chasing the whitetails. Bear season opens Saturday so bringing the bow out hoping to stick one, nonetheless I'll be in stand again!

Thanks! Can't bait here or anything so I approach it like deer season, more an excuse to get in the woods and out of the house a month early! (But don't tell the lady that) When deer season hits I'm acclimated to getting up at 4am and have all my gear all together and such. Quite a few bear running around here so will hopefully get a chance and getting a bear with my bow is one of my top goals, using no bait. After a week or so I may tote the rifle out for a walk or two but 90% of the time I'll be stick and string. Had a sow and her two cubs all over me last fall on multiple occasions but she clearly got the pass. I always get mommas or little fellas, but want that lone roaming boar so I can't get my first.

Hoping this is the year for the bear for sure! Lot of cubs from 2 years ago seem to be running the hill and frequent the cameras and would do great to fill the freezer. Just need one big enough! Then on to the venison and getting us points!
Update from the brewery Saturday. No hunting until October 1st for me. Might go out when it cools off and raise some hell with the chipmunks with the pellet rifle. Along with opening day on Saturday, just found out I have an interview for a manager position at work. Wish me luck with both fellas. I will check in Saturday from the stand. Calling for passing showers, hopefully it cools things down enough to get the deer moving.
Good luck with the interview. I got my promotion last year, turned out to be a lot more work, but I now have 3 days off every weekend. More time in the woods!
Good luck Esbowhunter with the interview process, I just started a new job after 20 years at my old one. Usually more headaches come with the manager position even though the money is better.
