You can do it ash d. ash, I'm the worlds worst at showing off pic's of the deer that I have on camera. I have a self set restriction on what bucks I target. It's just the way I am. I've shot way more than my fair share of "small" bucks and as I've gotten older I've learned to have the patience to let them grow a year and maybe more. This is my standard on our property and my in-laws property. I "might" be a little more lenient on the property I lease. We'll see. I'll be at it for a little more than a month still. We're really close to being able to win this thing. Pretty sure we can get it done.
I have until this sunday to fill my last tag for the year here in Vermont. Buck or doe and have the smoke pole or the bow to get that done with. We have about 8" of snow here at low elevations and on the ridges it's easily a foot in some spots so this past weekend I did some tracking on the mountain with my bow in hand. Crept up onto a doe on two occasions to within 20 yards but couldn't get a shot off. But what a rush it was spot and stalking/tracking through the snow with my bow, usually I just do that with my rifle and smoke pole not the bow. Fun late season change up for sure and twice it almost paid off. Also, just bought a new freezer last Friday so I have some more room to fit another critter in there before 2019 hits! I'll be back out Wednesday morning and have the rest of this week and weekend off to hunt between the kid's Doctor appts. Best of luck fellas shoot true and straight!
Went this evening. Saw a nice buck, just couldn’t get a shot at him. Hopefully I’ll be able to get out next weekend. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
just got back my buck. The one I don’t have the correct pics for. Turned out good for $75. Sent from my iPad using Bowhunting.com Forums
JGD looks like a great time, I do quite a bit of it in the summers with my uncle down in Westerly, RI. I'm hoping to do my euro mount this weekend on that 5 I shot with the rifle, should have the time Saturday.
my thrill kill of the day today is finally catching up with the booner gray squirrel that's been chewing on the door frame of my outside shed for years now. The quest is finally over! dropped him at 75 yards as he was about gone back into the wood line with the .17hmr. solid 3.5 year old, haven't measured the skull yet but could make the B&C club Hah. Fried squirrel tonight?
17hmr. Are sweet guns. I have one with thumbhole stock. I waste a lot of muskrats in my pond with it Sent from my iPad using Bowhunting.com Forums
such a fun round - I take crows, grays, reds and woodchucks with it around the house and with no wind I can shoot out to some good yardages.
Mornin' guys. Wind is way wrong this morning so I'm setting it out. We have hockey at noon and hockey this evening. Planning on being out tomorrow afternoon. Good Luck guys! Sent from my SM-G930V using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Might try for the afternoon hunt if my dads birthday lunch/dinner gets over in time. Sent from my iPad using Bowhunting.com Forums
Another empty sit for me. I still think it’s going to be a good spot but maybe early season when the goldenrod is still standing. I’m still going to hunt it a couple more times just have a feeling. Sent from my iPad using Bowhunting.com Forums
Glad to hear some of you guys are still getting out. Officially winter here and I’m not sure I’ll get out again. Keep after em!
today was sadly my last day with my bow for the year as its now time to hang it up til Spring. See two doe today but couldn't get a shot at them. Was 2° out when I left the house for the stand. Tomorrow will be warmer, 10°, and I'll have the smoke pole with me for the last hunt of 2018. What a year it's been and as usual it's gone far too quick!
