Illinois Dept of Natural Resources. I’m Field Manager for Office of Oil & Gas, after sending 27 years as an inspector.
Plan ahead is the best advice I can give you. The wife and I started 15 years ago and together, we have a nice nest egg. It’s never too late to start. I’m looking forward to the free time and the travel out west. Seeing old friends and making new ones. Got a pronghorn hunt planed for Wyoming, hopefully a spring bear hunt in Idaho then top off with elk in Idaho and Colorado. Best part is the wife is on board and long as we spend some time on a beach.
Yes!!! Love it. Congrats on a long career and you deserve some "me" time. Enjoy! I have 4 more years till I can retire from the Air Force. Then I will do something else though. Can't totally stop at age 40. Lol. Do hope to have more time for family and being in the woods as well! Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums

You and your retirement talk. I just got my first check towards my retirement fund a month ago. My dad taught for 35 years before retiring I have about 34 to go and I can stop then Hah. Enjoy it J that's awesome to hear of your planned hunts already! 1 day at the beach for the wife and then 364 hunting I like it Hah.
Very cool Ash! We appreciate his service to our Country! No, I don't recall the name. Congrats to him! Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Scrape is primed and next time I’m in there will be Thursday to hang my stand. Planning to use sticks to gain some height, then hang my climber and climb a little. Got to get creative with this tree and figure the climber will give me a bigger platform/more comfort. I’m not usually an all day sit person but planning to give it a shot on Friday!
Jstephens where will you be hunting in Wyoming? That’s where I grew up and hunted speed goats all over the state. I like the retirement talk but I’m one of those weirdos who still loves his job. I can retire anytime but still enjoy going to work every day. The 4 day work week helps.
Sounds like you are ready for anything! Let the air out of 'em! Sent from my SM-G930V using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Well guys, it looks like it’s that time in Illinois. Just saw a buck chasing a doe. She was having none of it but he was dogging her.
120” 8pt. Pulled the cam from the first scrape in the area. 5 different bucks hitting it. Did a little scouting on the way out and found a dandy scrape line that got my juices flowing,
I may regret the ones I’ve passed on, but I don’t think so. It’s looking like a good year. Haven’t hunted this spot in a couple years and it’s paying off. Blessed to have private land to hunt.
