Well it is starting here, seen a good buck chasing a doe around last night, been a couple of big ones killed around here, a 213" and a 186", so things are starting to heat up, including the weather..we will see...

The wife is coming into town tonight but I think I'll be able to get out on Monday since I've got the day off and she has to get back to Anchorage for work. If the weather is right I'll take Tuesday off as well.

    Good luck this weekend guys!!!

    Buck down!!!

WOW! I got my first shot at a deer with a bow today. First time in this public land I hunt and I overslept, got in there sweaty and loud. Beautiful buck comes winding through there and I get a shot at 15 yards. Ill tell all later. I just gotta go find him. the shot seemed great right behind the shoulder but he ran a good 50 yards through the woods before i couldn't see him anymore. I'm gonna go in an hour or so and try to find him. I'm just paranoid of him not being down.

Go slow, follow the clues, keep your eyes looking forward as you go. You're doing the right thing so far. I've got my fingers crossed for you but it sounds like you're not going to need it. CONGRATS!!!

ps.) Be sure to take your bow when you go tracking so that A.) You've got it for a follow up shot if needed. B.) You can get some nice field photos with it in there instead of having to take them in your yard or truck.

    Good Luck tracking!!!
It's pretty warm here as well, and windy too, and the deer seem to be hiding in the corn big time yet so I am not exactly the most optimistic. oh well, can't kill em sittin on the couch.
    Good luck boys!

Thanks so much guys, I really appreciate it. Its my first bow deer at all and a buck to boot. It means a lot. I've been dreamingabout deer all summer. The story is on this thread if you interested: http://forums.bowhunting.com/showthread.php?26187-First-Bow-Deer-Buck!!!

I was reallly worried I wouldn't find this buck because I NEVER found a drop of blood. Just guessing where he ran, I finally found him 80 yards away. I could not be happier.

Hey Kodiak-I go to USC but my brother is probably going to coastal soon. Thats really cool. Your hunting stories are pretty awesome. Alaska is unfathomable to me from SC.

Congrats lefty :rock: way to get it done!! Guys I hunted this morning on public land and passed on three Bucks. First was a 2.5 yo 8 point about 100 in. He came in at 10 yards soon followed by 2 year and a half 4 points. Still looking for the big boy I know is there.
