Ryan: Got my pup on one blood trail Monday, he found the doe. How bout you put another one down and call so I can get the pup some more work. Dean
Hey guys. I know several of our seasons are opening up soon and just wanted to make sure that when you shoot a deer to make sure and take 2 pictures with you, the deer, and your bow in them. There has already been a few does that have not counted on other teams because they failed to take an extra picture or didn't include their bow in them. Lets not let this happen to us! Ryan you pictures were great and hope to see more like them. If you have any questions what so ever just ask some of the guys who have done this contest a few times or me. We are all here to help. Good luck to everyone and be safe. Also wear a freaking harness every time in the tree! I'm sure you all already do just putting it out there!
I bought a Muddy this year and boy is it an easy thing to use. I never used harnesses before but can't risk it anymore
Good idea. I want the Muddy or tree spider. I am just using the junk ones that come with the stands. I sure do hate trying to put those things on at 5 am. Will buy a good one soon hopefully.
In T-minus 2 hours I will be in the truck heading west for South Dakota archery opener. I'll be chasing Mule Deer with my bow. Service is sketchy, but I got all your numbers and will send a text if I get anything down.
ONLY 7 DAYS TILL THE KILLIN STARTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Good Luck Krohboy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well tonight I had the goofy buck Ive been posting on here at 45 yards but just couldnt get myself to take that shot. Pretty exciting hunt tho nonetheless. I am hoping I can get another doe or two here in the near future then concentrate strictly on bucks. I have one stand that I gotta move for sure and I am hoping my cameras tell me where to go. Hopefully I'll have updates tomorrow
Wow! That was a lot of catching up! Congrats on the doe Beagle! Bummer on that widowmaker Opel. You're lucky it just got your knee. Heal up fast. Thanks for all the congrats and well-wishes from you guys. It's been a busy couple of weeks for me. I'm at our Anchorage house now but headed down to Kodiak tomorrow morning to be back at work at 0800. I've got to get my limbs switched out to the 70 lbs. on my green z28 and get it resighted for deer hunting next weekend. I just hope for some decent weather so i can shoot it Tuesday after setting it up Monday. Here's some photos from the Australia trip. I've still got to edit video before I get that up. Will and I will start a thread telling the story of the trip in the main forum. http://s252.photobucket.com/albums/hh22/robswanson/Australia/Hunting/?albumview=slideshow The wedding photos are in another folder there as well. Feel free to browse about if you're so inclined. Get out there and start laying some bone on the ground!!!
Well guys I had no service out there, but the good news is the cooler has some quarters in it! I saw a lot of nice bucks, but nothing presented an opportunity. I did get a chance to whack a doe though! My stand was around 2 miles out from a road. I made a great 10 yard shot, but when I got down I was surprised to find very little blood. Well after a grid search we found her. Turns out the exit wound was so massive her guts fell out and managed to seal it up. We quartered her up and backpacked her out. I'm excited because this is actually my first deer with bow. Well while taking down stands today we took advantage of the sharp-tailed grouse season being open. These were my first two grouse, and am having one of them mounted. Although no bucks were shot I had a great time, and it was worth the 7 hour drive. I'll keep my buck tag for rifle season, and plan to chase any mulies I see while rifle hunting for my whitetail.
