Thanks guys. Im guessing him in the 110-115 range, the busted G2 hurts him. I'm give the full story later, but I killed him while hunting on the ground at 10 yards.Hes my second biggest buck, and my first bow buck since 2008. It was one hell of a rush! I shot him at 4:30pm and just now sitting down for the evening. Had some cold beers and retold the story with some friends. Been a good day :)

On the ground at any distance is quiet the feat, much less 10 yards! Can't wait to hear the story... great job BBM!

Well even with BBM's buck, team 10 has another buck in. they also have a buck down awhile ago and hasn't been posted. Its about 115 -120 buck. They are going to pass both team 11 & us.

We have 3 does or 2nd deer tags still to use.

We also have 6 BUCK tags open.

Good luck everyone with unfilled tags.

I'll fill you in on the hunt :). As most of you saw yesterday, I was *****ing and moaning about not seeing any deer since around Veterans Day. We all know how luck can change in a moment, and yesterday, mine did. I'm hunting an 80 acre patch of ground that I have permission on. It's a great spot to see a good buck, but it kind of sucks if you like seeing alot of deer movement. Usually when you see one, its a shooter, so I made that property my home away from home for my vacation.

I hunted there Saturday morning and evening, Monday morning and evening, and yesterday morning and evening. I was also hunting on the ground w/o a blind. 2 reasons for that, I need a new seat for my climber, and I really hate deer hunting in a ground blind. So it was just me, my bow and a comfy tree to lean against and wait for the deer.

Yesterday afternoon found me sitting over looking a bedding area, a grass pasture, and some draws in the timber. The view was great and I felt better about the hunt, at least the weather was nice. :)

I was set up and ready at 2:00pm, and at 2:10 I see movement coming through the brushy timber and closing fast. Turned out to be a black lab. Luckily somehow he didnt see or smell me and he went on his way. I proceeded to rattle and call off and on until 4:25. Behind me, and upwind, I hear a buck grunt and some trotting around in the timber, but I can't see him. I slowly got turned around and finally see the tips of antlers coming on a line about 50 yards away in the honeysuckle. I couldn't make out his rack well, but could tell he was a shooter in my book. I could also tell if that buck didn't turn, he was going to be in my lap and quick! The buck gets to about 30 yards and locks on me. Looks me dead in the eyes, then keeps coming. When he was about 20 yards he finally got beind some brush so I could draw, and all I could do was wait. The buck came through with the wind to his back, not the direction I was expecting and I didn't have much of a shot back there. I see that he's going to keep coming on a straight line and be in my lap, but thats the only clear shot I was going to get. He gets to 10 yards and I still cant see his rack really well because he's behind some honeysuckle and of course, his vitals were blocked. I'm still at full draw, with a good buck 10 yards away on the ground, that can't see me, and I can't shoot him!! And then it happened, he took 2 steps, and just like on cue, stopped in an opening where I could get a shot. I released, arrow made a great hit and he stumbled and trotted off. I knew he was dead and thats a really great feeling when you are starting to get down on yourself. Rush of emotions, 5 year drought is over and he's no giant, but he's what I was looking for. A solid buck with alot of steaks on him :)

    As I found him.

My 2nd buck still hasn't been added yet. I posted it originally back 11/14. Then there was a problem with my 2nd pic didn't upload. Then the date and time was missing .... but I corrected it on 18th or 19th. Shod be good to go for 50 point's.
