Awesome job on the does tonight guys. Cant wait to see them entered in the scorecard. When Woody adds his with the does we will have to be right up there. :woot: Had 7 different bucks on film tonight. This 3 1/2 year old stud we have decided to let live for next year. The big 6 we are gonna shoot.

I'm going to try getting out this weekend but don't know if I'll be able to. I'll definitely be back at it next weekend in brown county Illinois.

Does the 3 1/2 year old have a bad eye or is that just the camera? Couldn't tell for sure.

Just entered my deer on the scorecard. Here is how the harvest went down. Saturday I went to my buddy's property for a morning hunt. It was a calm morning about 35 degrees out. Didn't see a single deer. My buddy said we would hunt his friend property that afternoon because it has more potential. I got into the field edge stand at 1545pm. Stand was about 20 yards in the timber. I had good shooting lanes in front to the right and behind me. Wind was blowing 16mph off the field which would keep me from being scented by anything in the field but should have almost eliminated any chance at a shot behind me. I put some evercalm around the tree hoping that would help cover my scent on anything that may come in behind me. About a hour and a half into the hunt I look over my shoulder and see the buck step into my shooting lane. I thought there was no time to get a shot off but I figured I'd give it a try. I stood as slow as possible watching for any reaction the buck may have. once I was able to stand and turn I slowly reached for my bow. At this point I hadn't been winded our seen by the buck but he was almost out of the shooting lane. As I drew my bow he took another step leaving the vitals in the lane. I mouth grunted to keep him from taking another step leaving me no shot. Just as he raised his head the arrow drilled him behind the front shoulder. I waited an hour to get down and check my arrow. I had good blood on the arrow but not a whole lot of blood on the ground. I decided to climb back into the stand and finish the hunt before tracking him. About 45 minutes later a light rain started falling. I figured I needed to climb down and look for blood before it was washed away. I followed the sparse blood trail about 50 yards before I found him in lying in the brush. He isn't anything special to most but I will always remember him as my first buck.
