I had to work late last night so my wife hunted behind the house by herself yesterday afternoon. It was her first solo hunt ever, but she kept me informed via text messages. She watched a young buck feed in my bean field for almost an hour before she grunted him in to 20 yards. She sent an arrow over his back, clean miss. Buck fever won out lol. When I got home, she told and retold the story over and over. I think she's hooked. She killed a turkey last spring with me but has never taken a deer. I think that will change soon, she is focused and determined. :)

Good luck this weekend gentlemen. I will be checking trail cameras either tonight or in the morning and will post any good ones. Put our first gut pile in front of one too. I will probably leave the presure off of our stands until Oct 31st and then wack a doe that week.

Going out myself tonight and going to scout our public ground down in Southern Ohio on Saturday or Sunday just to make sure nothing has changed down there. Probably won't be able to hunt much this weekend, but good luck to everyone else! Hoping to put a doe down here soon, but Nov. 1st is our hunt down in Southern Ohio so that weekend should be the latest I get one. Hopefully!!!!
    Good luck Everyone.

:busted: I got a late start this morning. It was raining when I woke up. I was ready to go, however I didnt want tp get soaked again, so I was sitting in my truck until it quit raining. It was daylight already when I went to my stand. I was setting up when I was leaning over and digging something out of my back pack when CJ 's buck's twin walks by at 7 yards. :busted:

    Yes I got BUSTED, CRAP

    Trail cam pics.

The gut pile didn't bring any coyotes in. Must not be as many as I thought. Buzzards like it.

The one buck we refer to as the big 6 even though he has a seventh point. Big body on him and older than what you would think.

Can't wait until the end of the month to start hunting this stand. My creek stand. I killed a buck 2011 and 2012 out this tree. It's just a cool view.

Just got home and unloaded the truck. Haven't had a chance to measure my deer but like I said yesterday he is probably a fergie clause buck.

Didn't get in the treestand quite as much as I would have liked this weekend, but is what it is. My dad did see a buck chasing some does out in a field the other night when he was hunting. Exciting to hear that they are possibly starting some prerut activity around here. That means I am going to be in the treestand a lot here in the next couple weeks!
I also saw my first fresh scrap of the year open up on a tree that has a big scrap under it every year. Yet to kill a deer over that scrap, but I am hoping this will be the year.

Saturdays public ground hunt was an adventure. I left the house at 4am to meet my buddy at his house at 4:30. We hooked up the boat trailer, and the rain started falling. We were on the river by 5:15am and soaked. Rain, fog, wind, we had it all. He dropped me off on the river bank at 5:30 and I started my trek in. I followed an old slough about 600 yards in and set up about 20 yards off of a well used trail. Cold, wet, shivering, and still waiting for shooting light, but I was pumped. By 8am, he sent me a text saying he had seen 4 bucks, 3 were small and the 4th was out of range. As I was typing a response, I heard a twig snap and saw a great buck trotting my way. I stood and saw him closing the distance to 50 yards. I hooked me release on the loop and was thinking this was almost too easy. Notice I said almost. As he got to about 40 yards, he caught my scent. Stopped dead in his tracks, looked around and snuck back out the way he came from. It was all over in seconds, but by far the most exciting hunt I've had in several years. The buck was big bodied, rack wider than his ears with good mass and tine length, around 135-140. I'll be back there again soon :)
