BTW I'm done hunting the swamp goats (Sikas) so will be focusing on whitetails from here on out. Did have a couple awesome encounters with some big stags. Looking forward to being on dry ground and hearing the crackle of dry leaves instead of the slosh slosh of the marsh. Frenchbritt congrats again...that dude is a stud!

156 6/8" Gross gentlemen. I had it officially scored by an sci guy so I wouldn't mess it up. Time to get a doe now.

How do start this, I posted that I was taking my son hunting on sat. Evening. We went and we didn't see anything except a flock of turkeys. So we went back out tues morning, we saw a 8 pt chasing a doe. Icouldnt get him stoped until he was 50 yards past us. He turn and looked back, I was glassed him with the binocks. A nice 8 pt about 15 1/2 or 16 inch spread. Just out to his ears. No shot thou. The doe that he was chasing came back, the buck took off. We almost got a shot at her just to far for him. She was at 25 yards. I wont let him shot past 20 yards. He is only 13 and he is only pulling 40 pounds. So after she leaves and comes back, then leaves again. No shot thou. About ten minutes goes by. We sit back down an CJ says dad I see a deer. I look over and I see a buck making a scrape. We both stand slowly and it walks another 20 yards and makes another scrape. I grunted and the buck came in to 15 yards. CJ drew his bow back, and had to hold it for a long time, I was about to tell him to let down, when he took another step. I had a tree blocking my view and I was in mid sentence to tell him to wait when let it go. The buck steped one step also. He let it go, and 2013-10-16 20.55.26-1-1.jpg he gut shot it. I watched the buck take off and then stopped and walk away flicking his tail. I knew it was a gut shot, I climbed down and went over to the arrow, covered in green. We waited an hour and a half. We climbed down and went hom.e. We came back 4 hours later. We looked for an hour and a half. We found blood about 100 yards out. Followed it for about 250 yards. I had to take CJ to football practice. Took to practice and I went back out to track, however I lost the blood. I looked til dark nothing. Went back out today and I found him with some help of a friend. He is a deer tracking machine. He was only 100 yards from the last place I looked at before I lefy at dark. Oh yea it rained like son of a gun last night and today before we could make it out.

He is a killer now a GREAT 6PT for any 13 year old.

Great job CJ. DAD LOVES YA.

DAD IS SO PROUD OF HIM. I KNEW HE WANTED TO RECOVER THIS DEER SO BAD. The meat is lost but we have the horns. We never gave up.

    Good luck this weekend everybody...
I'm be taking a break this weekend while I take my youngest son to the UofM football game, I'd rather be in a tree but this is a close second. :)

    Enjoy the football games.

My daughter runs on saturday at districts. Then next saturday is regionals
    .
Districts is all the local schools.
Regionals is a big cut of schools around the area. Then if she
wins regionals she goes to states. Harrisbugh on Nov 2nd.

    Steve your daugthers still running?

My oldest daughter ran tonight and her regional is next Saturday. They should make it to the sectional.

My youngest was a top 7 runner as a 6th grader on the junior high team, but they lost at sectional and didn't advance to state.
