It was called to be warm today so I had planned a morning hunt only. I watched a young buck chase this doe & her fawn right to me this morning, he was grunting the whole time. They offered me 20 & 25 yard shots, ufortunatly the fawn turned out to be a button ( Apply Palm To Face ) I watched it and was convinced it was a doe fawn ARGGGGGHHHH
Deb you are a machine! Congrats and sorry about BB, most of us have been there. No luck for me last night, I had 4 does within 75 yards but they never closed the distance. My buddy sitting the other field had a shooter within 20 that if he didn't have a good one down already he could have taken. No signs of rut here, fawns are still with the does and the bucks that were in the other field weren't paying any attention to the does yet. In the office this morning but hunting this afternoon, tomorrow morning and probably Sunday afternoon.
Very close to getting a big buck down this morning. Unfortunately i had some turkeys bust me as he was getting into bow range and spooked him off. He was pretty close to 150 in my estimation.
Just got all settled in in my primary spot. I'm a little bit later than I would have liked, but it's my first time hunting in here so hopefully something will be moving.
Well I didn't end up seeing anything last night, but I had a small buck come by at 35-40 yards tonight. With no hunting on Sundays in Mass I have to wait until next friday before I get out again. Good luck team!
I saw a huge 10 this morning but he did not come close enough. Also a had a small 6 looking for action at 30 yards but I passed. Bucks are starting to move for sure. Sent from my SCH-I500 using Tapatalk
had a doe and 2 fawns come in real close(not close enough) and thats it have to wait till next sat to get out there
had a doe a 2 fawns come in this morning never had a shot but the got dead down wind didnt bat a eye (i think that ever calm stuffs works) have to wait till next sat to get out again
saw a few doe and a 110" 8 that strolled by. I did exact some revenge tonight and zapped a nice tom turkey at 30 yards. I like to think it was the same one that spooked that big ten yesterday morning I'm eating good tonight!
Okay here is the youtube link to my husbands bow hunting video from this year I put together, http://youtu.be/djGWFtdszUs I used a trial version of Sony vegas pro to edit & produce it, I know after using vegas pro I will not be purchasing it ... not enough fine tuneing in it for the price ... I think I will try out a few more trial programs till I find just the right one to purchase.
ill try to get it up. my computer with my editor software is in the shop and all i have is a netbook. I also go some neat footage of a smaller 8 tonight ill try to get up.
No luck at all for me this weekend, in 4 sits I saw 5 deer with none of them close enough. My place is a ghost town, never seen anything like it. The more I think about it the more I'm blown away that my buddy shot a nice buck last weekend. Talked to friend this weekend that is hanging it up for the year, he said in 10 hunts he saw 2 deer. He is the kind of guy that usually takes 2-3 does a year and is one the most consistent big buck guys I know. Things in Nebraska are a mess. I'm going to give it heck the next 2 weeks and hope the time in the stand pays off.
What are you guys seeing for rutting activity out there? I haven't really seen much of anything here yet, a few rubs one small scrape and the fawns are still with the does as of Friday night. I'm reading other threads that are talking about bucks chasing but we seem to be way behind here.
drenman- im seeing some good early pre-rut action. small bucks are coming to light rattling and responding to a decoy. Ive seen a few tailing does as well but not to hard on them quite yet. I attached a few pics my hunting partner and I are chasing on our Richland co property. Let me know what you think they may score. The last pic is a little hard to see but we think it is a buck that my partner had an encounter with last night. he said it reminded him of Bill Winkes G5 buck in frame characteristics but a tad smaller, maybe in 160ish. \ Let me know what you think!
I saw quite a bit of prerut action tonight, had a little 8 that thought he was hot stuff. He had 4 does he was trying to keep grouped up and was working hard at it. I've never seen a buck cover that much ground and be so vocal, it was fun to watch. Lucky for us he had one doe that wouldn't cooperate with him, she walked 20 yards in front of me. She caught a ride home with me. I'll put her on the board tomorrow.
