I won't be able to hunt for 2 weeks now... I have 3 weddings in 9 days. My wife is in two and them and i'm on Daddy detail with our son (4 months now). It should be fun and busy - at least the moontimes aren't as good and maybe it will be October Lull. Next date in the tree for me is October 19 in Wisconsin... hopefully corn will be harvested by then! Otherwise I'm off a full week from work starting October 26 - November 5! I will kill a buck that week (positive self talk...)!! Anyone going out this week? Or weekend?
I'm pretty sure sat night I will be in a tree. Otherwise no. I'm thinking about moving two stands this weekend. Sent from my SCH-I500 using Tapatalk
I'll hunt Saturday morning but like Brad my primary focus is on stands, I plan on fixing or moving 3 stands on my place. Gonna stay out of the property that I stunk up this weekend for a couple weeks. Neal, enjoy the family time! I like the time frame you are taking off to hunt, my best bucks all have come from the Oct 30th- Nov 5th time frame.
Well my trip to Kansas is officially over. I didn't end up killing anything, but I saw a lot of deer and had some great encounters. I spent the whole time on the ground in my ghillie suit and passed up dozens of does and small bucks at less than 15 yards. Yesterday my dad pushed a little bedding area while I sat along a fence row. I had 3 big shooters run by including a massive 10 point at 5 yards. Unfortunately I only had a split second to shoot and and a branch deflected my arrow right over his back. I was pretty disappointed because he was the buck of a lifetime, but hopefully he lives til next year. I'm pretty busy with school so I won't be able to get out to my grandparents farm again this year. The mass season opens on Monday though, and I'll be back out trying to kill a big suburban buck or doe next Friday. Good luck team!
I have been asked to remind everyone to make sure you include your date and time with any deer entry. Just a friendly reminder.
Well I made it out to bowhunt Monday morning Seen, 4 different bucks , the biggest being a 130 inch 10 .. but he had no mass to his rack it was thin and spindly and body wise he looked like a 2.5 yr old so he was a pass , sorry no film of him. I did get this young buck on film up close though, literlly at the base of my tree smelling the trunk of the tree I was in. Was interesting cause when I worked the Firenock booth at the Archery Trade Show the booth next to me was ConQuest Scents and she was nice enough to give me some free Ever Calm Deer Herd Scent Stick to use, so I figured it being early season I had nothing to lose and I went ahead and wiped some on my boots and pant cuffs to try and it looks like it worked on this young buck. This is the video of the young buck. http://youtu.be/Avd2A5rURvU We just got my husband a new HD Filming Camera and a 3rd Arm Camera Arm so I am busy trying to learn the editing process of this new camera... I feel like I have a steep learning curve with this camera, I feel a little dumber every time I work on it So He takes it out opening day and is filming his bowhunt for his first time and kills a big doe on film... He just makes it look to easy, then he goes a couple of days later and gets the next big doe kill on film .... See now I really feel stupid took me a year of filming to get my 1st kill on film Anyhoo I will share his videos with you all when I finish them. Gonna be back in the tree Thursday.
Cool buck lady! Filming definitely is tough - i think everyone should try it, it's not as easy as it looks to put together a hunt! Keep at it!
Bummer! Sounds like you had a great time.. good luck this weekend in MA, hopefully you get that big suburban buck!
I took out a mature doe this morning at roughly 8 yards, was a horrible angle but she was headed for straight under the platform of my stand. I Hate It When They Do That!!! SORRY, To bad it dosnt get our team any points but My buck will come She and her fawn came in right down my foot trail to my tree. My arrow did hit a small twig and deflect a bit but the shot was still lethal. ( were not allowed to trim shooting lanes on this park property )She made it roughly 70 or so yards and dropped dead. Thank you Lord !
What Up Crick ... Howdy Dan that Camera Arm you made Christine is Sweet, I had a chance to check it out the other day when Christine & I were hunting,Hope its rust proof cause I think I drooled on it a little bit.... HINT HINT You need to sell me one I am so over my heavy camera arm, the weight is the main thing that stops me from filming sometimes, I swear I must be hauling 50lbs on my back every time I hunt, you would think I would lose weight at that rate but NO Im still a Fat Doe!
Congrats again Deb! Looks like the weather is going to do away with my work day tomorrow, I still have to go check cattle so I'll probably hunt in rain but going to have to leave the stands alone. Good luck to everyone hunting this weekend!
