No luck, blood trail went dry quick. We looked for about 3 hours walking trails and checking bedding areas. I had to come back to town for a family commitment, probably go out again tomorrow. Honesty not even sure the shot was fatal but I need to make sure I cover every inch of our property so I know I've done everything I can.

    Sick.

Holy cow got 3 shooters on camera that I have not seen. Going in tonight to a buck stand where I think the 10 pointer is.

Another beautiful morning in Kansas. I had a bunch of does come by at about 8:30. Some of them walked within 5-10 yards of me on the ground in my ghillie suit. I'm still holding out for a big buck though. There are still another 2 days to make it happen

Well... This weekend was disappointing. Other than the 5 doe on Friday I saw zero deer. Haven't seen a shooter buck since opening day. I had a feeling this property would be slow until the rut so I'm not too worried but it makes for a long weekend! Probably won't hunt here til the 27th.

    Great bucks!
Only problem - season closes on January 9th... :poke:

Did you see anything this weekend Brad?

I almost had another doe on saturday - I got great footage of a few smaller bucks; and they were definitely bumping the does around.

5 more hours yesterday and no luck, I blew it. I've replayed the shot in my head 1000 times, I'd take the shot again if presented but not with a deer on alert. I'm sick about losing the deer, the hit was terrible, bad enough that I hope that he is still walking but that is probably wishful thinking. I have all my cameras on the other property right now, I'll pull them this weekend and set them up on that field and see what I get.

I'm embarrassed to say that I think the thing that is eating at me the worst is the fact that I screwed up a GOLDEN opportunity. In 25 years of hunting deer I've never seen anything like it and probably never will again. I told my wife that I really wish I would have had a camera rolling, just the footage of that many big bucks close at once would have left most people speechless. I hate to admit but I think for the first time ever buck fever got me.

Thanks. I saw does and fawns again. No bucks in person. Yeah the date reset on my camera.

MAN! Sorry to hear that, and I hope you can get another opportunity to get a a good buck down. I've been there man and it sucks... Just keep your head up, that's what I wanted to hear when I was in a similar situation, even though nothing really helps! :( ... But, Good Luck with the rest of the season (It's EARLY!!!), and let us know if anything else unfolds in this story!
