What kind of broadheads were you using on that doe, the blood loss was incredible.

Yep, 13 yards to be exact! I couldn't get him to stop though, don't like to take a running shot.

I'm testing out the new QAD Exodus fixed blades. I'm super impressed with them so far. Good penetration through bone and not a lick of damage to the head. It's back in the quiver and ready to go!

Now since Im hunting the earn a buck property I have to kill an antlerless prior to killing an antlered deer.
It is preferable to kill a mature doe since this is how the University runs the hunt
    Mature Doe ( 1.5 yrs or older ) = 5 points
    Doe Fawn = 3 points
    Antlered = 2 points
    Button Buck = 0 points
So there is an incentive to kill mature does
    * If you kill a doe you are automatically invited back to hunt the property the following season.( Up to 20 bowhunters )
    * And 10 hunters will be chosen to participate in the hunt by random lottery.( All remaing applicants are put on a waiting list in case someone drops out of the hunt )
    * Hunters are required to perform 30 hours of volunteer service at the park to participate in the hunt.
    * Your points are tallied at the end of season & the the top point earning hunter gets all Required Volunteer hours waived for the following season,
( Top point earner has to work Zero volunteer hours the following year
2nd place has to work 3 hours
3rd place has to work 6 hours
4th place has to work 9 hours
5th place has to work 12 hours ... etc

After you kill 2 mature doe's the University will reimburse us for our doe tags ( For Mature Doe's Only ) For that season.
So I really want to take a mature doe opening day

So I had been Himming & Hawwing over where to bowhunt for my Doe opening day and had a few nice spots with doe's and fawns patterned, until I found this new spot.
This spot is where I had seen bucks chasing doe's last winter.
So I hung the trail camera and i have 3 different does with fawns going through it in legal shooting light every morning & evening... Sooooo I now have my opening day spot picked provided the wind cooperates ;)
Here a couple of pics ( The 1st & 2nd pic are a fawn & doe, The Doe with a solid white throat patch that runs all the way down to her chest and I think she maybe the same doe that I have video footage of her when she was a fawn, She is the one I am hoping to get opening day, or I may have to let her walk cause I have a bit of a history with her which makes me a bit of a softy as well.

Nothing too exciting here but here is my video footage with the fawn sat. Night. Nevermind the watermark as I playing with different software. It was good practice filming and great to up close with a deer again. This is just a bow mounted Kodiak Playsport mounted on my bow

Cold front was awesome last night. We were covered up in does (7 does/fawns) with 50 yards. Unfortunately none withing a shooting window! Great night in the woods!

    Keep at it guys!

The weather this weekend is cooling down as well here in ky, I'm pulling my camera for the first time at my new spot today where some huge bucks have been killed in the past, so really excited. I'll be hunting this weekend, so hopefully I can put some points on the board! ( I'll post some vids when I get a chance if I get any good ones today.)

It has really cooled off here too, deer were moving in the fields almost all afternoon yesterday but unfortunately I only saw it from my son's cross country meet. I tried something new this summer and just stayed completely away from my best spots, no cameras or scouting, hopefully it is holding a buck.

I am going out on a local public piece of land here in SE Wisconsin on Thursday. No expectations. I WILL SHOOT ANYTHING I SEE FOR MEAT AND POINTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would like to leave my does alone on our land up north for the most part to aid me in the rut for the big boys. But I may need to stick something if I get the urge bad enough.

Well... to a huge dispointment when I pulled my camera I had a 103 videos all of does, and 1 of a small 6. But on the positive side I only had it out like 4 days, and the reason I checked so early because I had to refill their food bowl :) But I have two so I just switched, and aren't missing anything.
