Well my season here in mass still doesn't start for a month but I got out to do some scouting today. I checked out an awesome new little 14 acre spot full of thick swampy terrain and thick deer sign. My other hunting spot is about 150 acres. It also had a lot of good sign and the land owner told me about a couple big bucks that have been running around over there. It sure got my blood pumping. Luckily I'll be headed to my grandparents farm in Kansas in early October so I don't have to wait another whole month before I get out! That'll be my chance to kill a true giant and rack up some points for the team. Good luck to all those who are already hunting!

I'm going after that big ten I saw yesterday tonight. I didn't think I had a pic of him but I was digging through my game cam pics today and found one that may be him. I'm naming him Casper because he looks like a ghost in the picture. He should be worth 150 points for the team if I can get him!

It was funny how it worked out. In the vid I explained the deer would come from the opposite I thought they would and thats what happened She came down the hill behind me straight down wind. I can't say how much I believe in Dead Down Wind stuff. I was sweating like crazy hanging that stand and I covered myself with the 3D spray and she never new I was there. Not too happy with the shot, I misjudged the shot a little and shot high but it all ended well in the end.

Well, it was a little slower tonight. Only had four doe come through at about 6pm. Got lots of good footage of them and a flock of turkeys as well. I tell you one thing though, if we got points for squirrels I would have done well. I had a booner red come in. It was the biggest damn squirrel I've ever seen, at least a 3 pounder! :)

Congrats Junkie! Way to put some points on the board!

I was only able to make it out to the woods once this weekend. I got out Saturday afternoon and actually had a pretty good night in the stand considering the farmer was cutting corn most of the time I was there. I ended up seeing a total of 12 deer, 5 of them bucks. It was nice to see some bone, 2 of the bucks were shooters, one passed through the corn before the farmer got there at about 50 yards out from my stand with a couple of younger bucks. The bigger of the 2 was bedded down in a grassy area in the field, he didn't get up until the combine was within 40 yards of him. Unfortunately when he bailed out of the corn he didn't come towards me.

I have to admit I did have a couple shots at does but I'm a big softy and don't like shooting does with fawns in tow, at least for a few more weeks anyway.

This was my view most of the night.
