I knew it couldn't have been you, Tim - otherwise, you'd have posted your hero shot in the score sheet with a big story about how you spot-and-stalked him in your bare feet from 18 miles away, then killed him with your bare hands, Bear Grylls style. :poke::poke:

    It did say Ford.

This is suspect, Tim. Very suspect. I hope you have a solid alibi.

Sorry for my absence bros. Been home in VA the past week getting things ready for the season. As of now my food plots are looking fantastic and I am getting plenty of day time photos of old does in them. Obviously, my goal is to kill a buck this year. But there's a handful (3-4) of does that call my property home that I have been getting on trail camera for years. I would age them anywhere between 6-10 years old. Freaking horses. If I can arrow one of those old ladies, I am going to be pumped. They've set up camp around my plots and run off all bucks during the summer and the majority of the younger does. They've got a stranglehold on the territory and need to go. One of my biggest goals is to shoot one of those old girls this year. It would be a genuine trophy and huge accomploshment for me.

Sorry to hear about your doe, Rob. Bowhunting provides us with a brutal array of emotions. It is truly sickening to make a bad shot on a deer and, as cliche as it is, it does and will happen to everyone. That's bowhunting for you. Everything can go perfectly, but just a slight mishap can leave you with a literal sick feeling to your stomach. Keep in mind, however, that just as quickly as things can turn south, they can quickly turn north! Keep your head up, I feel for ya, but focus on the future. There is a lot of time left to be spent in the tree. Good luck buddy!

Do you guys have a Captian yet? I'm trying to help rockinchair finish up his captains list for all the teams and his team is the only one without a captain. :busted:

Fitz - I just kinda figured that Mr. Altizer was our leader. I guess if he doesn't wanna do it, I nominate Ben, Rob or Rob.

I nominate someone other than myself to be our captain. Keeping the contest running smoothly (or at least semi-smoothly) will take the majority of my posting time this fall. I wouldn't be a worthy captain.

I'll try and put one on the board this weekend. Our season opens up Thursday in MO, and I'll be in the stand most of the weekend. I'm hunting a relatively new to me farm this weekend, hopefully I have learned it well enough to put one down. I have pics of a pretty nice 10 running around

Alright everyone, now that we've got everyone stirred up and the odds seemingly stacked against us - it's time to get down to brass tacks and start eliminating some whitetails.

Honestly, if y'all had to put a percentage chance on scoring this year, what would it be?

I'd say my chances of scoring some kind of buck are around 80 percent.

I can almost go out here in Pennsylvania and tag a legal buck any day of the week, but the problem is twofold: First off, I'm waiting out one particular buck here in PA. If I still have a PA tag late in the season, I'll put a day into filling it. Secondly, the lion's share of my hunting will go down in Ohio, 1.5 hours away from home. I don't put forth a year-round effort to head west and tag a buck that I wish I'd have passed up. I'm mentally and emotionally prepared to eat my Ohio tag. The trophy potential in Ohio is immeasurably better than my hometown honeyholes.

The wild card here is my own property. Last fall, myself and two good buddies bought a nice piece of property in an area that I know to hold some major-league bucks. Thing is, I have a bucketlist item to shoot a 125" buck off of my own land. This year, I might have that chance. When I'm in there, I'm going to take the first PY buck that I see.

Less time to hunt, but hunting better ground and hunting smarter. I'll put a 75% chance on 100 inches or better. I'll put 100% chance of 50 points though.
