Wow fls, I'd like to see some pics of that broke G2 in hard horn. You thing it's just snapped or bent hard?
Here are a few that a friend and I were chasing last year. To my knowledge, nobody harvested any bucks out of that area last year. Fingers crossed. Any thoughts on age and score?
Nice deer D ! Hopefully they are still there. Not sure Ben. That was my first thought also. I hope to see him in person to find out.
This is the only shooter I have gotten on camera this summer. Granted, I haven't checked my cameras in close to three weeks and they are currently over my mock scrapes. But this picture was taken June 18th. He looks like a 4 year old, has some good junk on his bases and something funky on his right main beam. I only got this one picture of him, but I know where he sleeps (not on my property). I just didn't have enough food on my property this summer to keep him hanging around. I'll see him this fall though, but getting close enough to kill him in these mountains is a different story. I'll give it my best though! FWB4L!
i dont post on here much, or any other site as far as that goes. I have been bow hunting for 29 years this fall. I hunt, scheme, scout, or just think about whitetails every day of the year. I now hunt 400 acres of public, and about 250 acres of private, allthough my private might as well be public. This summer I have seen alot of good bucks and feel that 3 years on this farm passing small bucks is paying off. On to the goodies...... My biggest buck public land 159 6/8" my biggest bow buck public land 152 4/8" others over the years Most of my pics are old 35mm. Some of the other things I like to do last years shed put up Proudest moments in the woods I hope this gives you guys a little insight into the UP bowhunters world.
Todd, you have a GREAT taxidermist! Damn, bro, those mounts look really good. Love the shed pile, too. You're definitely an asset to the team, and I'm glad to have you aboard. I know you'll definitely be good for scoreboard action. You definitely beat me on sheds last year. I hauled in 25, but your average size is a lot better than mine. Most of what I picked were all yearling spikes/forks/3's, only a few from the upper age classes. Here's my buck mount from last year. I finally broke down and took a good picture of it. Don't count on me to shoot another one like that this year. I'm either going big or going home. Most likely the latter.
I have a 10 pointer that should touch the 50s, and and 8 that will go mid 30s with alot of 115- 125sh bucks around. We will see how their ranges fall after the velvet comes of in a couple weeks. That a sweet buck Quick and all the other trail cam pics we should be in a great place come Jan. Good luck fellas.
This is my buck from last year. It's my first ever. Played cat and mouse with him for three days but I finally prevailed.
Rob, that's a GREAT buck. I remember seeing your picture in the bowhunting contest last year, and thinking "wow, that's a great looking deer, with a happy guy, all set in a beautiful picture." I tip my cap. Your mount really turned out great, too. That first one is a special one... I can only wish that my first buck looked like that! I cut this poor thing's throat to make sure it was dead. I shot it from the ground, and it was still quivering around a bit when I ran up to it, so I felt compelled to "make sure it didn't get away." I practically chased it down through the woods as soon as I saw my arrow hit the mark. When he went down, I was only about 15 yards behind him, and closing fast. LOL What a specimen. That was way back in mid-November, 1993. I remember I skipped school to hunt that day. It was the last Friday of archery season. Apparently, at the time, I wasn't one for hero shots. Or any other decent kind of picture, for that matter. LOL Good god, how things have changed... I'm really excited for this season, boys. I'm not really dialed-in on any kind of giant buck, but I'm going to be in neighborhood on a few. I'm just really amped to blow the dust off of the climber and get back in the game, and share our hunts on here. I think we've got a really solid team here, with a lot of guys who like to post a little and share their experiences. What more can you ask for? Todd, Here's my shed stack for this year. Most of them, at least. The rest were either dinks, older than the hills, or chewed to smithereens.
FLS, nice buck and mount. Quick thats a nice pile dude. Looks like quite a few into the 60s, I aint got that many into the 60s, just a couple actually.
Actually, it was some bigass Rambo knife that I got at a flea market from one of those weird Craigslist Killer-looking fellas hawking cutlery out of a child molester van. Some fat kid on the bus told me that bowhunting bucks was dangerous, and that much of the time, the deer is just playing dead, waiting to gore you. Who was I to doubt him? I pounced like a leopard and made sure he was down for the count. Yeah, that was pretty much the end of the line for the throat slashing.
Great story Quik ! I heard mine crash in the woods just over a small rise so I could not see him. That 30 minutes I waited to go look for my arrow seemed like forever. Since I didn't start hunting til 4/5 years ago at age 43 I had the luxury of learning things from the internet and tv and not have to rely on the fat kid. Although I think some of the info out there has come from him.
