And, this guy I know is alive from last year, I've dubbed him halo. He's four this year. The pic was as a three year old. He lives on the neighbor all summer, disappears in October, then shows up to rut on our farm. According to the neighbor he's an easy 150" ten this year. So, if the neighbor doesn't whack him and I don't tag early, I'll be excited to encounter him again. I passed him multiple times last season and am glad I did. I haven't seen pics yet, but the neighbor is trustworthy on his judgements and has a trophy room to back it up haha
Also working in my favor is that I'm blessed in the fact that our property is a half mile wide and a mile and half long of mainly oak bottom timber with mixed ag and native pasture. I'm the only one hunting it and It is phenomenal rut hunting. I never know what will show up. In 2011 I killed a 155" that didn't show up until the rut. In 2012 I killed a 145" that was regular all summer, disappeared September and October then Returned to rut and I killed him November 7. Last year I had an encounter with a bonafide 170" with a droptine and inside tines on Halloween. He was definitely cruising for early does and He came as close as 80 yards but that was it. To my knowledge he's alive, but has been a ghost on cam. There's also a monster 8 I named the beast last year. I missed him on November 19 last season. He's an 8 with huge beams, tall tines, and 4 stickers. I know he lived through the gun season, but he's been a ghost too. I'm so excited for this season I can hardly stand it. Kansas has had good crop production, adequate rainfall and the racks really show that compared to the last two years.
Jeff you should have a great season.... Hopefully some of your hit listers will give you a shot. If not then maybe you will have a big guy show up for the rut....
Ya jeff hope youll be able to carry the team! haha great looking bucks, im sure wee will have a fighting chance at this thing!
Thank you! I sure hope it works out. It looks like we've got a very strong team, I'm just hoping I can do my part to contribute to the score. Getting trail cam photos is one thing, antlers on the board is another.
That's a very respectable buck anywhere! I know guys that would rob, cheat, and steal for a chance at a poper. Good luck to you this season.
One thing I've noticed about this contest is if everyone shoots a doe you only need a few good bucks to win. Everyone shooting a doe is critical.
Welcome sir! Glad to have you aboard! To catch you up it looks like NO. 6 is the official captain. We are between two names it seems: #1 tall tines good times and #2pope, young, and the lung busters. Please cast your vote for either #1 or #2. We're starting to get some hitlist photos in and this is shaping up to be a very solid group!
Agreed!!! That is great advice guys and gals! And please for the love of Fred bear and all that is sacred in bowhunting....DO NOT pass a buck that is a "shooter" by your standards trying to hold out for something that meets someone else's standards. This will only make for a long and frustrating season for you. If he makes your heart beat, and you've got wall space in the man/woman cave let it fly!
Im a big old boy, 6'4" and 265 pounds. But I don't think brad will need any carrying. There's antlers in his near future!!!!
Doe should not be a problem. Hopefully I can take care of that on opening day like in years past. I will at least take a smaller buck by end of year if i don't have nice one on the ground...Some points is better than none.
