Headed out for an evening sit around 3:30. I'll be in the acorn flat on the west side of the creek, my wife will be about 200 yards east of me in a stand I call the honey hole where I had my early encounter with the light 10. It's really warm here today so I'm hoping one of these shooters decides to come get a drink and then browse acorns. Only time will tell.

I've got loads of night activity on my turnip plot, but I'm staying out of there until the seeking has started or until I'm home during a big cold front. I don't want to get in there and muck up the area on a 70 degree day two weeks before the best hunting of the season. But I am more than itchy to spend a day hunting over there.

I am trying to make up my mind when I am going to take off vacation.

Either I take off Nov 1-9 or delay it a few days and do something like Nov 4-11. I would get less time with the latter but maybe more of the peak rut. I can't decide what to do.

Another bust of a sit. It's still early tho. I think I'm gonna let the farm rest a week or so before I hunt again.

Well ended up feeling a little too under the weather to make it into work this morning, so I headed out to the property to see if some tree therapy would help :) With the combo of the cool weather and perfect wind for my location, I was really hoping to get my eyes on a buck or two but, ended up only having a brother and sister fawn crossing behind me and then returning later just to get my hopes up. Ended up being a bust morning but, still enjoyed the tree time!

Well these are nowhere near the same caliber of deer that Jeff is hunting but this is what has been showing up recently at a couple of my spots....The first one is the closest to being a shooter but all of them need more time...I might would try the first one but I would have to see him in the daylight to know for sure....Hopefully there Dad's and Granddad's will show up soon.....

Ain't nothing wrong with those bucks NC. If they make you happy and get the blood flowing let an arrow fly. Never shoot a deer based off of how other people view it. Hunting is definitely more about the experiences and memories in the woods than the inches that go on the wall.

Thanks Jeff...I wasn't trying to imply that I wouldn't shoot them b/c of the size of somebody else's buck or opinion. When it comes to bucks I am after a mature deer. I prefer a 4 or 5 year old but it is a rarity that a buck makes it to 3.5 around here much less 4 or 5...Either way I totally agree with your comment. Hopefully something a little older will show up...

Absolutely! I couldn't agree more with what you said above. I think you and I have very similar management views and goals. The good news is that I think you're gonna start to see those big boys on your cams. I don't know anything about your property, but I can say that the deer herd around here is one good cold snap away from some serious daylight activity. I just hope I'm home to hunt it! Good luck to you!

Its almost that time of year for these bucks to start making stupid mistakes! I will be taking my girlfriends little brother out for his first time saturday night in hopes to at least see something for him and maybe even reach out with the bow for a good ole doe. In the 60°s for the next few days, hopefully I can make it out some time next week for a afternoon hunt once this weather cools. Good Luck to all, I have a good feeling about this wknd.
