Well I made it out yesterday to bowhunt , it rained all day. So for my afternoon bow hunt I went with a umbrella strapped to the tree, I couldnt find the camo one we used to have so an everyday black one was the standin:wave: Deb Oct 15 2014 Doe 005.jpg So I did stay pretty dry. about 25 minutes before last light I see a button coming in at about 22 yards, then I do a double take, oh crap there is a doe under me at 10 yards.
I dont know how she snuckin on me like that... but between not being able to hear them coming with the rain and its just so thick where I was hunting. ( Wish all the leaves would just drop already )
So I drew back and settled the pin where I wanted on the doe and shot her at 8 yards. She bounded off 5 yards and just stood there and Im like WHAT THE HECK, did I miss her ? No flippin way I missed her ? she just stands there and stomped her foot for a few seconds and then she just tipped over dead. So she didnt make it past 5 yards from where I shot her.
Which was awesome because of the rain !
Dragging her out on the deer cart in the rain and across a creek sucked but we got her to the 4 wheeler with only a few embedded thorns in us both and tipping the deer and cart over in the creek and I fell only once, Ya we were a mess:lmao:

She was a nice big doe . The entrance hole was high just off center from the spine and the exit hole is showing in the photo. Deb Oct 15 2014 Doe 009.jpg

    Congrats LF!!! You're a machine!

Sorry I didn't update sooner on my pursuit of the big 10. He evaded me and I had pretty crappy weather to hunt. Hopefully I can get on him starting Saturday. I have 4 days to hunt him. Also, I checked a cam, and got what appears to be a new buck with lots of stickers and junk. It's really hard to see because my cams batteries died about 25 pics later and his rack isn't lit up well and his head is down. I'm hoping I picked him up on a few of my other cams. I'll know more later in the weekend when I Check em. Either way I'll post the pic and apologize in advance for its quality.

    My Am Hunt

    My Hunt
Morning was awesome, temps were 39f with a sse wind@8kms,perfect for this setup ,plus it's one of my honey holes, had 2 spike bucks come in from down wind of me. Hate that when that happens, anyways they caught the scent of the buck butter and and continued on there way. One was a 3 point and the other had one 8 inch main beam with 2 points on it,must have broken the other main beam off while scrapping. That was it for the morning but I checked my cams and DANG, forgot to turn them on and they have been there since the middle of August. What a drag!Be back out where my buddy shot his buck the other night that he lost in the morning. Hopefully after all our trampling around, our scent has dispersed from the rain and the area will be back to normal! I have an am hunt tomorrow, and a evening hunt set for Saturday, hopefully I can lay a doe down be for I head back to work. then I'll be doing all day sit's for November and that's for 29 days!

Well back on stand with a. sse wind@5km and 38f.Had something moving around a bit just south of me as the deer make there way back to the bedding area. Still a bit dark back this far in the bush to tell what it was or see it.

Well my morning sit was a bust! I saw nothing but wood ducks and squirrels!

On a positive note I checked that camera and a familiar face showed back up. I named him halo as a 1.5 year old because his main beams touched in velvet. He disappeared as a two year old, but the neighbors had pictures of him. And as a three year old I had numerous encounters with him and chose not to shoot. This year he's 4.5 and if I see him id be honored to make the harvest!

Good luck with him, looks like a good one to put your tag on. I'll be out for an evening sit then thats it till the end of October ,then I'll be stuck to a tree for at least 20 days of the rutt. Had someone steal my SD card out of my camera, unless I forgot to put one in it! LMAO. I think I forgot to put one in it cause I checked it after 2 weeks on a game trail and didn't get one pic. Trouble with getting old and senile I guess. Man I need to get this camera back out before I leave Monday, then I can tell if it'll be worthy to hang a set when I get back. Good luck to whom every is hunting today. Will check in daily from work while I'm gone to cheer you's on team.

I will be out tomorrow morning. It should be about perfect conditions (32F with 5 mph west wind). This will only be my second sit of the season. I'm trying to keep low pressure on my spot until the rut kicks off.

    Latest Card Pull
Well I finally got a shooter on TC and to say I'm happy is putting a smile on my face. Got a 5x5 Whitetail that'll score in the low 140's and 2 Muley bucks that I'd shoot either one for the meat and Moose. Well there is 3 different bulls and numerous Cow's also. I never knew 3 different types of deer would share such a small piece of bush,27 acres to be exact. I guess they have every thing they would need to survive and no one to bother them. Here's a couple picks ,also look at the times on the picture of the bull bedding down and the picture of the one with 1/2 a head then check out me taking out the sd card. He was there 40 minutes before I got there bedded down. Just my luck, he was the thing that was making all the commotion while I was on stand last night.

Rocky, that was an awesome card pull!!! It is funny that I often have a plethora of animals on my card pulls as well except for the moose and mule deer lol....I had one site that had deer, wild pigs, turkeys, a bob cat, a coyote, opossums, raccoons, squirrels and rabbits come through on almost a daily basis lol......It is good to have choices for sure....

Jeff, those are some studs for sure....This cool weather has moved through and got the deer up on their feet....Unfortunately I have not been hunting in a week and a half but that is all about to change....We went to the mountains last week which was AWESOME but I so wanted to be in a stand back home lol...Hopefully the viruses and colds have left my household so I can leave Mommy and the kids and go have Daddy time in the woods.....I am going to try to get out one evening this week. If not then I will definitely be going this weekend....Good Luck
