Hey BJE80, I got your PM but your inbox is full and it wont let me reply. And no worries here, I find it humorous....for the most part.
Just checked my camera on my urban property and was really disappointed. Left it out 2 weeks and had 258 pictures only 20 were of does and the rest coons. In the last 2 weeks the temperature has jumped up to around 95 almost everyday, before the temperature jumped like it has it was rarely over 80 so i hope thats why the deer aren't moving. My card pulls were at least 2,000 pictures every 2 weeks, I even had one that was class to 4000 and rarely saw a coon. Nothing I can really do though but hope all the deer show back up when the temperatures cool down or by the opener on Sept 15. I also had brushed in a blind about 2 weeks so I'm sure i can't attribute the lack of pictures to that. I had never used one and wanted to try it but after seeing it up in the woods i just didn't like it. Just gonna use the climber even though the trees aren't huge but if i get up high enough ill be alright. Dang these temperatures suck here right now!! Anyone else having this problem?
Well keep your head up and hopefully movement will increase. You going in there and brushing in a blind probably has a lot to do with it. I would not go back until right before season starts. Another tip and you may already do it, but spray down EVERYTHING with some time of scent killer....We have only pulled one card so far and it was filled with some does and some good up n comer 2.5 yr olds or possibly really good 1.5 yr olds...Can't wait for the next pull. I have one farm which is my favorite farm that I haven't even taken a camera too. Time running out for sure lol
Ya i spray everything down and even myself before going in. I'm sure its just the weather screwing with the deer. i pulled that blind, hopefully that will help a little bit also.
Well, I did my cam check today and the boys are still grouped up and are still in velvet. They are however Hitting my monster raxx sites more outside of shooting hours. I'm going to attribute that to three weeks of upper 90's and low 100's without any rain. Hopefully as things cool down I can catch the light coated 10 during shooting hours making a mistake. On a bad note my turnips look horrendous. The day after I planted we got almost 3" of rain and in a weeks time my plot looked incredible! Since then not a drop of rain and it's been very hot and windy!!! I'd guess at least 60% of what came up is Brown and dead looking. The rest looks ok, but is starting to wither as well. Rain is in the forecast all weekend so maybe that can help turn it around. If not, the ground is already worked and I'll have to reseed when I get back from California. Wifey and I are celebrating our 5 year anniversary with 8 days in napa valley. Should be a nice relaxing time before the season starts.
Question for those of you who own your own property, when you bought your place did it have electrical already hooked up, or did you have to bring it in? We have a pole with some sort of line running to it but there is no box for hook up. I was thinking about going to buy a box this weekend but wasn't sure if the electrical company would provide it or hook it up. I know everywhere is probably different but any information would be greatly appreciated!
We had to run our own electric. The Power company provided the meter box and hooked it up. My electrician had to have it ready to be hooked up prior to the electric company getting there.
Hopefully he will make that mistake very soon!! Happy Anniversary to you and your wife as well!! I planted a 1/2 acre food plot last year with big n beasty by frigid forage. After it got some rain it looked great for a month and then it just withered and died..It was new ground and the pH was low so I guess that was it's downfall...
So did you contact the company and they shipped you a box? what do you mean by your electrician had to have it ready? Have the box mounted?
In my experience dealing with them, the electrician has to mount the box as well as run the wires up through it. The only thing the power company will do is hook up the meter, turn the power on and lock the meter.....
