Sounds like you have a decent spot! Are you silent or calling?

Generally silent. I gave a single grunt at the big 7 that got him off of smelling the pile that the spike left abot 60 yds out in some thicker vegetation, he turned around out of the thick stuf and was headed dead at me, but he stopped at 40, sensed something was wrong did an about face and left.

Here was the view today. The stream on the left wasy 9 o clock, the green veg starts about 2 through which I can see in some spots, mostly windows to see movement. Far right is my 6pm, the back side of the ~2' diameter oak I sat in.

A beautiful spot I never tried before. My stick straps just make it around the bottom of the tree. A huge scupanon climbs the back of the tree and provides me a canopy. The tree leans a bit so its a dicey climb as you are partly hanging, partly climbing the sticks (+linemans belt, harness, etc).

The spike was pissing me off, he ran off the does I was waiting to get close, eating all the acorns, left a huge tern pile (no joke, 'jellybean' glued together bout the size of a grapefruit) and loitering. 2" behind the front leg and equal under his chest.

I'm glad I shot at him with that particular bow, scared him off be he was clueless and didn't know what hit under him. That bow is sighted for my target arrows that are probably 100gr lighter.

Just made life slightly easier, downloaded tap talk an man can you rip around the topics quick! Now I have no excuse not to be on ;) anyway should be goin out here in a bit to shoot around a little. This Saturday my season FINALLY opens, only one problem. Velvet came off the bucks an I'm left with a spike for right now. Bummer. But hopefully I'll catch one comin off a cut corn field crossing on to my property. If not looks like I'm waitin for the rut an prayin they come back.

I hope everyone else is havin a good season so far an enjoyin this beautiful fall weather!!

    Good luck Fuzz!

Well, I wont be able to get into the stand for about another week and a half due to some other things going on...on the up side (I think) my secondary food plot are now has 4 does and 3 small bucks visiting on a regular basis...problem is the neighbor is a ****. You know the type...when you ask permission to track your deer on his property and he says "No" and slams the door in your face. So do I chance taking a doe and it running onto his property or not? decisions decisions...Can always make the shot on the doe and drop her but i dont feel thats very ethical...wat do you guys think?

Whats the distance from your stand to the property line? And what would be the max distance you would anticipate shooting?

If you feel confident in making the shot go for it. I have really really tall thick cat tails that I hate when deer get in there because it makes it near impossible to find them if its a lung shot so after a couple of yrs of searching cat tails I figured out to wait till the deers facing the way I want them to run. So wait till shes not facing his property
