Got a blind halfway brushed in. Got a couple good pics. Droptine needs another year or two. Getting antsy to get out.

Good work on getting us on the scorecard.

I'm out to fill the freezer first. Trophy hunting comes after that. I guess I'm opposite of that saying. I'd shoot stuff on first day that I wouldn't on last day

Plenty of does to fill the freezer. Shoot whatever makes you happy. Different for everyone. Very good saying and advice though in regards to shoot the same today as last day.

I remember my first year hunting I was 8 so I couldn't shoot but my dad was in a tree and I was watching from the ground, it was super hot and I was in full body suit so I never lasted more than an hour or two.

This has always resonated with me, especially lately. I’m trying to let the good deer I see grow another year or two but I keep thinking back to this saying and I’m trying to figure out what I would shoot on the last day lol. I get pretty trigger happy once November rolls around and I have had my hands on any antlers. When I began bow hunting, I started with the “antlers only” requirement and then quickly changed it to “does for meat and bucks mainbeams must be wider than their ears.” That turned into “100 inches.” Now I’m trying to hold out for a 140+. I stopped running cameras so a lot of it is blind faith. There is really only one property I have that is capable of producing that quality of a buck but I think if there’s one around I have a good chance.

We’ll see. I’m enjoying the challenge, but at the same time I’ve only sat 4 hunts. This time last year I was probably close to a dozen. I’m trying to hunt smarter and be opportunistic. I’m hoping to get out tomorrow afternoon provided the rain holds off.

Good luck Chris I decided to give myself a rest to study for midterms this upcoming week I did check cameras and moved one to another spot a few small bucks nothing huge and it is all nocturnal i think these warm temps are keeping them from moving during daylight.

I feel like I'm right there with ya. I used to say "you can't eat the antlers" but as each year passes I find myself passing more and more deer.

Had a pretty nice encounter with about a 120/130 inch 8 pt this morning came within 30 yards.. my goal is to get one bigger than the one the year before so I probly would have taken a shot.. long story short, he lives to die another day. How's everyone's weekend so far??

Bought two stealth cameras today to put out. Being down to only one camera felt wrong. Cabelas had a good deal. 40% off in end.

Putting on active scrapes and the big deer should start showing themselves.
