shew.. we definitely need someone to have some success.. there's some good deer being taken so far this season.
Guiding youth hunts this weekend. Hoping they tag out early so I can get some time in for ME Sent from my SM-G920V using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app

It's gonna be a tough decision next weekend. Tree stand or opening day in the duck blind? Maybe I'll hunt ducks in the morning and deer in the afternoon.
never duck hunted in my life so ill be in a stand lol I have been dove hunting and that was a load of fun!
If it was another week later in October it would be a no-brainer, but it's still a little early for prime deer hunting.
That's true that's why I haven't gone to deep into my property I know exactly where the deer travel once the rut rolls around because year after year I have seen a big buck stroll through there and I never had a stand there but this year I went in the spring and found a good self climber tree and it benefits the usual wind that's in there so should be good!
One of the best things you can do is find a stand that's good for a N wind. Cold fronts are generally accompanied by N winds of some kind so if you have a good stand for ENE to WNW you'll be golden.
It's a pretty nice setup, a natural funnel in a creek bottom so depending on the wind I can hunt ether side of it, the wind does sometimes swirl but the deer are so used to people in the orchard as well as in the houses I have never had one bust on my scent, they have seen me before and bust but never just my scent.
Just be careful with the swirling wind. Young deer take risks. Old deer know the terrain and wind and will slip right around you, or wait till he doesn't smell you anymore. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
