opening day is Saturday for me. its gunna be lows in 60's and high in 80's.. a little warm but I'll be looking for a bear so hopefully it shouldn't matter a whole lot.. I swear it seems the closer it gets the slower the time goes by..

An archery bear hunt is a dream hunt of mine. Right behind elk. Good luck. Is hunting bear totally different than deer?

Not a whole lot.. temps aren't as big a factor and they can see a bit differently than deer do. My setup is next to a pond with a 1 acre corn plot behind it so hopefully I'll see something.

We are supposed to hit 95 degrees today. Our season opens Oct 1 yet it feels like July :(

If you think he'll make it through the season, he'll be even better next year. Age-wise, he has a lot of growing to do. Good looking deer tho. Good luck with whatever you decide

See that’s the thing, I barely ever have a buck return to this spot the next year, whether it gets killed or just doesn’t return so if I see him on the hoof it’s gonna be a decision I have to make fast... and the neighbors hunt hard also so I know he won’t get a pass from them

Ultimately, the choice is yours. In that situation, I'd probably shoot him. Pretty sure of it actually. I've shot several small bucks. I don't care what anyone else thinks, I'm happy with whatever I get. Every deer is a trophy to me. I hunt more for the freezer than for the wall.
With that being said, I'm about due for another big boy. REALLY hoping it's this year :)

I would wait to make a decision once he's standing 25 yards out on a cold November morning chasing a doe. hah ;)

Yeah personally, me too. I mean I’m only 21 so I have many years for the big bucks but I just try to beat my best buck every year. And last year I got a 133” 8 point so any deer that looks around that size or bigger will get an arrow from me.

Pictures can be deceiving, but I'd say he's definitely not over 133. I'd give him 120-128. Width is good, bit tine length is a little short. I'll try to find a pic of my 128 for comparison

He might be an older deer. Just looking at his brisket he looks like he's got that baseball in there. This is my I-can't-wait-to-see-him-next-year deer from my friends camera on the prime property I hunt. Hopefully my buddy or the landowner doesn't shoot him this year. I'd be thrilled if one of them got him next year. [IMG][IMG]
