Just motivates me even more... this place is 2 1/2hrs away from home so I don't come down a lot, the first time we set up a camera in April it sat for 3 months just to find out the SD card was broke and didn't get any pictures, then we set up 2 more and they were both stolen... maybe somebody knows about a big buck they don't want me knowing about... because I know there are some big ass deer in the area.

I know how it feels. I lose 2-3 cameras a year to theft

I'd wait. Just hunt it next weekend and check the camera while you're in the stand. Two birds with one stone and its better than leaving scent this close to the season.

Probably best to stay out depending on where the cameras are located, but this is a hobby that is supposed to be fun, right? Go get them if you want to. Checking cameras is part of the fun. Maybe while you are out you might find some shrooms. Growing in this area this time of year. Not sure where you are at.

I personally have never been able to pattern a mature buck, but I still love checking cameras. I wouldn't say cameras have helped me kill any deer, but I know people use them every year to pattern big deer. More of an inventory tool for myself that is really fun to see. Depends on how you use them and what works for you.

Since I can't hunt and have fresh venison like Virginia. Pork will have to do. Interstate rival game today. Love the fall. Go Hawks!

Congrats on the harvest! I bet that venison is absolutely delicious.

Speaking of the food aspect, any of you guys have Hank Shaw's cookbook "Buck, Buck, Moose?" It is absolutely phenomenal. Some of the recipes in there absolutely blew me away. It takes the hunting to a whole new level just because I'm able to enjoy the food so much more. I'm a big time anti-bacon and anti-italian dressing marinade guy. Wild game is such a great tasting meat when cooked and handled properly that I refuse to succumb to the wrap-it-in-bacon-till-you-can't-tell-what-it-is regime. I enjoy cooking (moreover, eating) so that cookbook has really been an incredible motivator for me. It hit me right in the feels.
