That’s great! I have been taking my daughter for years. She’s 13, I ‘m not sure she will ever kill one on her own but at least she will have a healthy respect of the process. This was taken last season moments before I killed my buck that came into my buck decoy set up. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
That's cool that you guys are taking your kids out hunting! At 15 years old I don't think I'll be taking any kids out for awhile. But I am taking my mom out hunting this year! Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Wait another 12 to 15 years for kids. Live some and get all your wild hairs out before settling down and thinking of having kiddos. Spend as much time and enjoy hanging out with your parents Roll Tide Roll
The one I have now isn’t that big, I don’t have the other one anymore. I’m signing on another one in November up in Georgia too so this year I’m hopeful of a couple of decent bucks.
Well guys, I pulled my cards today and not much good news. Got a few does and fawns, no bucks. Mineral sites are gone at cams but very few pics. As much as I hate I'm going back tomorrow and messing with cams. Only had 11 pics on 1, and 2 pics on other. So not sure what I did wrong. Just bought those 2 cams this summer. So I'm hoping to fix issue and have better outcome. Other 2 cams had tons of pic, but all does and fawns. Roll Tide Roll
The farm I lease I lost my cams, but know patterns they ran past few years. There is 2 nice bucks that made it though last season. Only 2 properties that border me that hunt. So hopefully they stay around this season. Roll Tide Roll
I hunt in Illinois and Minnesota and my 53 acres in Minnesota is awesome none of the boarding properties hunt and most of them are divided Gov land so no one hunts it my neigbors down the road keep saying theres a giant that lives here but havent seen him yet I just bought this property this year so it's new to me but I'm getting a ton of pics of does and yearling bucks the big boy has to be around. My property in Illinois i only bow hunt and all the neighbors only gun hunt there I've taken some giants off that property last year we took 3 all over 165 inches off it.
Sounds like a good situation To be in Jay. I would love to own some good hunting ground. I lease 240 acres, half of which is crop land. There is tons of pressure on neighboring properties. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
This morning I went to check a camera behind my house that's setup by a corn feeder to find out it's not taking pictures or videos. So now I have to figure out what's wrong with it or buy another camera. but right now I have it setup on a mode that I never use, but its working! And while I was out there I saw 2 does and a fawn out in the hay field next to our house! Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Thats great Jay. Good for you for seizing the opportunity. Sounds like you do a little fishing lol. Last year was my first year in the contest.
Being my first year here I cant promise anything lol but I know I'll drop some does in Minnesota we have a ton and they made my unit a 3 deer intensive managed area this year here.
No worries man, contest is fun but it's more about meeting new people, talk, get and give advice, and learn new tips and tricks. Some states only allow 1 kill. So hunt like you usually do. No one is guaranteed to make a kill. Roll Tide Roll
Totally agree with you on that! Last year was my first year and I didn't kill a thing. I only got within shooting distance of 2 or 3 deer but I didn't want to shoot them because I thought they were too small, I regret not shooting a smaller buck because I thought it was too small for the contest. That’s great. What are some of your best finishes? What kind of baits do you make? Don’t worry about the contest. Hunt like you would if there was no contest. Don’t get me wrong It would be nice if we could all shoot our best bucks ever but chances of that are slim. Sharing the adventure is what it’s about. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
When I was 15 I would have shot any deer foolish enough to come into bow range. There’s plenty of time for holding out for bigger deer. I admire your self control but don’t be afraid to shoot one because somebody will judge it to be to small. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
There is nothing too small, even spikes get 50pts, aka the fergie clause. Shoot what makes you happy.
