Barry Hicks aka "Beardog" since I was a little pup, 54 years old. Been bow hunting 40plus years. Fortunate to kill a lot of good bucks over those 40 years. Biggest was probably a double drop tine from Illinois in 08, not counting the 200incher (it had double drops too, but here in Ky) I shot in 2011 and never recovered. Still haunts me. Married with one daughter, 16. From general Lexington Ky area. I hunt a few different counties in Central Ky. I'm a property claims adjuster in my real life for Travelers Insurance Company. I run a lot of trail cameras, and enter a lot of contests. I have won 2 reconyx cameras on that trophy rock contest, and won 2nd grand prize in 2017. That photo is their website cover photo, 2 bucks at a stump facing the camera. I killed the bigger of those two that year on labor day, but he shed his velvet in August. Of all the bucks I have killed, never one in velvet. Passed on a few.

Here is the main boy I’m after this year. Blew up from last year as he was only about a high 120 to low 130 in 2018. 58734623028__ECAF58BE-BFB0-4582-A141-B260A716F141.JPG IMG_1843.JPG

Anyone have any other suggestions for team names? Captain nomination? Or all we good with The “buck”eyes and buckeye as captain if he accepts? If so, any ideas for team logo?

On a side note, anyone changing things up this year, getting more aggressive, etc.

I’ve been watching a lot of THP and thinking of trying some more run and gun setups with my climber. I also put up a 2 man stand for my son and I to hunt out of. It’s in a real thick area of the private land I have permission to hunt. A place I’ve been wanting to get into for a couple of years now but have been too lazy. I’m pretty excited about the new setup. Youth deer season is sept 14&15 here in MI so my oldest son and I will be trying it out then.

I have no preference on name or captain. And don’t know the guys who have not checked in yet. My extra hurdle this year is to try to take a deer with a long bow.

Shooting a deer with a long bow would be pretty cool. Have you been shooting with it for long?

Nice! I’ll be attempting to take my first deer with a recurve this year. Maybe we’ll both fill some tags with the ol’ stick and string!

That would be awesome! I could not have imagine how much fun and humbling it has become. Still love my compound but not near the challenge.

I pulled some cards today, I’ve got some really great deer on camera. I’ll post em later when I get through all the pics.

Oh, and this is my the last, (and only) buck I’ve taken with a bow. Nov 2017

I just realized, I had just purchased that jacket/pants from buckeye, and I believe that was the first time I had worn them. So thanks buckeye! And if you have anything else for sale let me know lol!

Well, I got mixed results from my card pulls yesterday. Starting with the bad first, somebody unstrapped my trailcam and tied it to a branch overhead. Thankfully the guy didnt steal the SD card or hurt the camera, and I got a good pic of his face. I'm 99% sure nobody but me has permission to hunt this area, but I haven't checked with the landowner since last season. I'll need to see if they are letting someone else hunt before I make my next move.

    On to the good news!
Ive got tons of pics of two decent 8 pointers,

    Here's the first

    And here is the second
    01120163.JPG 01120164.JPG

Both are great bucks for the area, and I'll be estatic to take either of them.

Besides that, I've got 2-3 smaller bucks roaming about, this is shaping up to be a great season!
P.S I got some pics of this coyote chasing a buck. I wish I had it on video, but pretty cool nonetheless.

Bummer to hear about your camera. Thankfully it didn’t get stollen. Nice looking bucks. Good luck with them this year.

I'm up for whatever on the team name.

As far as captain, I've had more than enough turns in the past and would rather see one of you guys take the reins.

On a side note.... Let's see more pics guys!

I was captain last year so if some one else wants it that works for me. If no one else want to do it I will.

Any other ideas for team names?

Got last years buck cleaned up.

As far as the name, don’t really care too much. I’ll be cool with anything.

Here’s a couple pics from last year I don’t have any cameras out yet. Both of these deer made it through gun season so hopefully they’ll still be hanging around.

Looks like it turned out well. Did you do the euro mount from start to finish yourself?

Benhkarr glad you made it! Axtell343 brother I feel you on that one. I had a piece years ago that someone messed with one of my cameras. They had taken the sd card cleared it and taped it back to the camera with a note saying get lost. It was a lease piece that come to find out was sniped out from under me during the summer before the lease was paid. To add insult to injury it was one of my hunting buddies that had seen the bucks on the property from my cameras that did it!
