Good luck. Seems like your family did last year.

Had a pretty good weekend in the stand. Seen a few bucks that looked to be shooters, but couldn't really get a good look. They all were out 70yds or more in the timber. Seems that the bucks are really starting to move here in NW GA. My two best buds put some good bucks down this weekend, but they have rifles not bows.

Watching trees fall while hunting usually doesn't look good, but then again....it is the rut. Loggers next to me. Should have last hour to myself. Wind is set up for them to work back this way if they aren't too shook up from loggers.

Stuck a decent deer. Not huge. He was limping. Not sure if from rut or someone else shooting.

I believe I hit high and back. In my dads box blind. I was on my knees shooting over a stool that got in the way. Going to wait awhile. Sitting in stand listening for clues.

I hate waiting. Guessing that I hit him quartering away a little bit. Which would be good and lucky.

quick update on first day of gun season, this is my daughters first time hunting. She took a small 7 pt tonight. her and I have been hunting together in this stand we were in since she was 10 months old! used to have a pack in play in there and she would sleep while I hunted. Tonight I got to enjoy watching her take a deer, dropped him in his tracks! [IMG]

Not great pictures, but wanted to get meat cooling. Deer looked to have a broken front leg. Not sure how long ago. Also had some other damage. My arrow didn't hit where I wanted. Very far back and I'm guessing hit the artery. Lots of blood and quick death. Very lucky shot.

I scored him at 119. Pictures may not tell much? I forgot about pictures with bow until later. Had good mass. I would have field judged him to be 130-135 while watching him come at me.

Good hunt and happy to recover the deer on a poor shot. Ended up giving the deer 4 hours to track. Easy trail because of artery hit.

    Way to go man!

On another note, I picked up another prime spot to hunt. Going to get another hang on and sticks. Crop land with half cut and half standing corn. Good sign of a fairly large buck. Gonna throw a cam out tomorrow to confirm my suspicion.

We are not to far off first place when then numbers come in. I will for sure add at least a second doe in December, holding out for my big buck, he is still alive to my knowledge. Have pics of him after first day of gun season. We get a few more bucks and 4 or so doe's and were in the hunt! Lets keep it going men!

I've got 2 does down, so if I don't tag a buck I'll be sure to add a second doe. Still a lot of season left. Foodplots are looking great so I'm optimistic about late season archery. Passed up several 130" three yr olds so far, just need something more mature to walk by!

I didn't know you could add a second doe in place of buck. I would have got a 2nd one last year if I knew that. Good to know.

I don't think you can. I need to check the rules but I think that's a no.
