ShedHead - that is a MASSIVE buck. Big congrats bro. Looks like you're going to get two H-measurements off of that left side that will EACH be pushing 10"! Good golly. What a hoss.

How many sheds do you usually pull every year?

Danno - I didn't want to say anything and risk being way off, but I thought that looked like that 5x side could push close to 70. Those nice G4's help out.

Usually between thirty and sixty sides a year.

Congrats on the finds Richie, that dude is a hammer!

Finally picked up a couple sheds... Found two and an old skull this mornig. Didn't have much time only a couple hours before the wife had to leave for work. Picked these up on public land. The double beam shed is a toad!

    The skull.

Wow Scott that shed looks cool could you post a pic of it out of the leaves. Congrat's

Fran I was thinking the whole time that it was this buck I saw earlier in the season that was around 140 then I measured it and looks to be in the mid 150's I think it's a different buck.

Wanted to try and get out today before the snow screws me but didn't get that far. Just have to wait

Dang guys, don't know if I want to put up the ones I found (5 on friday, 1 today)

    14 total

Gotta keep telling myself that if I am finding the little ones, I am doing something right, right?

The bottom one I found while waiting for the landowner to go get more woodchips (cleaning out wood duck houses this morning) kinda bummed, didn't have my camera with me so no ATL photos of it, but it does finish off the set, and now we have 2 years of sheds for this buck (old man found the other half before he went to Florida for the winter)

Did have a bit of a duh moment on friday, first shed I found was the small horn on the lower right, pretty excited to see that one, about 3 hours or so into my walk. Got the camera out snapped some photos, then turned around to go back to my ski poles (about 10 feet away) and as I was putting my camera away looked down and found the 2nd shed of the day, (the small upper left one)

can you see both sheds in the photo?

I found 3 sheds in Wiaxle's picture but I'm not telling where the other two are !! Congrats on the sheds Wiaxle !!!

Scott congrats on the 2 sheds !!! You and your double beamed bucks !!! I've only seen one here that was killed. How much did the 5 pt score ?? Is that the public land you had in your latest topo post ??

Shed Head congrats on the great set !! We've got good racked bucks here but nothing even remotely close to that big. Can't even imagine finding a set and getting to hunt a buck of that caliber !!! :D

Dan congrats on your latest shed. Very nice !!!

The whole afternoon as I was walking around, all I could think of is he would have poached that one on me, he likes to come over when I find one and try to see it before I pick it up, and I know he would have found the 2nd one.

Just a few more months before he is back, can't wait....(seriously, miss having the guy around)

I was just talking with Dan about the double beam sheds last night.... I know they are very rare... But yet I have managed to find 3 double beam sheds on three different properties from 3 different bucks.... I will probably never find another, just a streak of dumb luck!

    The 5 point went 52".

No that is not that public. Something came up and my mom couldnt watch my boy on Saturday so I wasn't able to go down south. I actually found those on some public that gets extreme pressure from the Amish. The public has a cornfield on it and it is the only corn field for a long ways so I figured I could get onto some sheds there. I didnt expect to find a big one like that there though.

I went back today for 2 hours and found one from last year that was all chewed up. Couldnt come up with the matches for those two from yesterday. I found them almost on private land though (within 50 yards) so the matches may be on the private I cannot access. Not sure if I will go back up there again.

So Dan put me down for my 3rd shed.

You know... Tyler has poached more sheds on me doing the same thing. He likes running the camera just so he can come over and snoop in my spots when I find one.

Yesterday his wandering eyes found two sheds on my side before I could get over to that area. I know I was in trouble when he stopped and was leaning against a tree facing my area. Most would have thought he was being nice and waiting for the old man to catch up. I know better !!! He is trying hard not to smirk but you can see the look in his face... he found something. It is the same area he robbed the 6x6 set from me last year.

It is a lot more fun to shed hunt with him then going out by myself even if it costs me some sheds. He keeps you motivated and we can cover a lot of ground in a day !! I've got a lot of great memories of him and shed hunting over the years.

    Tim
