Awesome job guys!!!! I am goin to be hooped for ANY shed hunting....another 6-8 inches of snow forcast for today over night.....needless to say anything that has shed in the past 3 weeks is going to be tough to find until this white stuff melts...I am hopin to get out sunday with the snowshoes.
Got 2" of fresh snow on the driveway and more coming down, but did manage to get out for almost 6 miles today, and found 2 more, along with another dead deer (doe) for a total of 8 so far this year Total so far this year: 4 The first one I believe is a match to the one I found on monday, very similar, thinking I saw this guy opening weekend, and in hindsight, never saw him again.....3, maybe a 4 year old, leaning towards a 3 year old from what the deer around that size have been aging out at, according to teeth inspection by the DNR. Going on google maps, as the crow flies, the two sheds were about 490 yards apart for you inquiring minds out there. Took a picture, so gonna post it, no other reason...... The second shed is a yearling, the photo is pretty poor, makes it look ALOT bigger than it actually is.....and honestly, there is a shed in the first picture....
What's everyone's forecast for the next couple days? We could get up to 20" tomorrow plus the foot or so that's on the ground already.
Survey says, stay in the house its gonna be a rough and brutal couple of days. Break out the bowhunting.com dvd and sit on the couch and relax.
Hey Shed Head I have three for the books so far buddy! Storm really hitting us hard here in Central IL hope you all are better off up there. Wind is nasty let alone that the snow is coming down really hard too.
I know one thing if this snow lets up tomorrow im gonna go kill some coyotes. I might try to shed hunt depending on the snow depth, who knows might get lucky and snag one off of a trail or a bed. Dawg we still got a long way to go brother, its gonna be a great shed season i know it.
Well I gotta tell you guys im really getting the itch. Snow snow go away i wanna find some sheds some day.
I was in Chicago in training all week (golly, the weather sucks up there. Woke up to -30 wind chill temps each morning)... back home now so I'm going to try to get out this weekend for one of my first real jaunts around the stomping grounds.
