It's not that there aren't good bucks around as there are... It is just the lack of land access. I am off to a pretty nice start this year with 2/3 sheds being nice ones though!
I covered my best (historically my best) area today. Walked 5 miles inside a 30 some acre thicket and came up with nothing but a bunch of bloody scratches and punctures from the briers. This is next to the place that has been being logged by the Amish since last January though. I was hoping to find some there today but not shocked that I didn't.
And another 4 more for me today (should be at 20 now?) Pictures of todays and yesterdays sheds, (yesterdays are the bottom two) Good day for me, found the easy ones for a change :D
Haven't been out for a while. Too much snow, went for a ride on the snowmobile yesterday and stepped off up to my waist in the stuff. I'll most likely be able to get at least one or two more after the melt. :D
Looks like the first one had been poached for horns! I've been real sick lately, and haven't gotten a chance to get out. Too much snow anyway!
Scott what causes so many fatalities in seemingly young bucks, cars guns or lack of food? I found a decent 4 point today, it actually is a last years shed, I will post the pictures when I get a chance.
I live in an area of very high hunting pressure. I would attribute most of the skulls to lost deer most of the rest from vehicles. I find about half as many doe skulls as I do bucks. I probably find 4-6 arrows / crossbow bolts per year as well. Only one so far this year though.
