I goofed big time. Was all set to up on a bedded buck, he been bedding on a point of swamp that cuts out into a powerline. With a north wind I was going to take my climber to south and sneak in as close as could. Problem is the wind I actually south west, so I came in from the north parallel to a road. There are smaller trees on this side so I switched last second to my sticks and hang on….snuck in and realized I didn’t pack the daisy chains for the sticks …so there they lay . I am tucked in against a big white pine on the ground. This should be interesting if he gets up and moves into the wind. Shots going to be on the ground and up close and personal.
Had a fun sit tonight but no shooters. Little guys are cruising and trying to chase. Older does aren’t cooperating but the young ones were feeling frisky. Had shots at every deer I saw tonight, just a matter of ass in stand time. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums

Just sent an arrow at a nice buck. Clean pass through, broadside 43 yards. He’s down at 40 yards. More to follow gents!!! Haven’t seen this one on camera.
Just entered my buck on the scorecard. Grossed @ 147 3/8 Quick run down for everyone. I lost my dad October 11th and last nights sit was my first of the year on my family property. I’ve been hunting there since 2007 and have only ever seen nice bucks on camera. We kill plenty of deer there, just nothing of any size. Hung a new stand last night, against my better judgement, making a ton of noise and didn’t settle in until about 330. I figured I was off work all week, at least I had my stand set for the following days. I rattled quietly and grunted a few separate times and low and behold, at 510 I spotted this guy 80 yards behind me, working a scrape line I had seen from the ground. Grunting frequently along the way. One of the scrapes brought him broadside at 42 yards and I let the Ravin eat. He ran about 40 yards, did his wobble dance and laid down. I got nervous because it looked like he was just gonna bed down but I swore my shot was double lung. He didn’t last 30 seconds. Short easy recovery. We had cold temps overnight so I tagged him and brought him home to score and photograph this morning. Dropped him off processing afterward. Fairly confident I had a little help from above on this one so he’s going on my wall. Turned out to be an awesome evening. I’ll be back out tomorrow and the rest of the week for hopefully a bonus deer and some quiet time in the woods. Good luck everyone.
Updated my scorecard to reflect my bonehead errors and now my pictures won’t show up, wth! Anybody know why they say locked and aren’t visible?
Hell yeah man, that’s awesome, congrats! I took Sunday off but hunted hard all week. Had 2 encounters with one of my shooter 8s. I’m getting closer to sealing the deal. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Well boys, sleepless night coming. I shot a decent buck tonight but not sure about the hit. Felt good about the yardage and stayed in the shot but there were tall weeds that may have come into play. The buck didn’t act right after he was hit. He kicked and ran about 30 yards then went to a walk. Walked slowly around the back of a downed tree and stood there for a minute. Thought he would go down but instead it looked like he dropped down into a dry creek bed. From there I didn’t hear him or see him again. I stayed in the stand for about an hour. Got down and walked to my arrow. While walking to my arrow deer busted out of the woods. I had waited for a couple to clear my area but it was too dark to know if they were completely gone. Hopefully I didn’t bump the buck. The arrow looks to be a muscle shot. I’m worried that it’s brisket. Had good blood for 60 yards or so until it dropped into the creek bed. Once down in the creek there was ok blood for 20 yards or so and then it went sparse. I circled a bit down there and then decided to back out. I cleared my morning schedule and will go down with a buddy to hunt a bit in the AM and then look hard. If it was brisket the coyotes will push him tonight. If he’s down they will likely have found him before I do. Hate this feeing, it’s the worst to know you you didn’t put a good enough shot on him to put him down quick. Hope for the best, I’ll update tomorrow. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
