Well about that.. snakes shouldn't be too much of a problem that time of the year. Down around that neck of the woods I'd watch out for the mobile meth lab or just a whackadoodle local.. lol!

Got my deer entered on the score card, he grossed 137 1/8”! My second biggest bow buck!
Still trying to add a doe to the total before I head for home on Sunday.

I will share this pic of my dads deer he shot here Wednesday. Grossed 157” his largest rack by far! Super happy for him!

Heading back out tomorrow to move a stand closer to bedding. I have one doe that is always jumpy and make the other deer nervous. Time for her to go. FINALLY getting some cooler temps next week. Good Hunting to everyone!

Headed back to Maine from Illinois. Had a great week out there! Ended up missing a doe Friday evening, my bow hit my camera arm when I released and sent the arrow just over her back.. I’ll still be trying at home for another one though, as we’ve got about a month left of the season.

I’m getting closer, had a buck yesterday in MD at 30 yards but he was on the neighbors property so I couldn’t shoot, this morning on PAs first Sunday hunting day I had a nice buck tailing a doe at 40 but wouldn’t come out of the thick stuff for a shot

Just saw the same three does, 2 fawns, 2 spikes and one manged up 6 this morning. Blargh. By my own admittance, I have not put the normal effort into it this year. I had to focus my priorities on family and work and it is kind of showing out where I hunt. I figured staying off the place and just letting it be a sanctuary would be a winning strategy, not so. So I've already started looking at seed. Most definitely doing clover and chicory. I already have a 50lb bag of sainfoin I bought this spring but didn't plant.

Spent a fair amount of time the last 2 weeks hunting. The good news: got a doe for the freezer. The bad news: it was with a gun so i'm officially tagged out. I apologize that I cannot add any points to the team this year but I only get 1 deer here in MN.

Got one on public land this morning at 9:14am at 17 yards after I had just lit a smoke , I had literlly gotten one puff on my cigarette when I saw him coming from down wind behind me so I had to put out that smoke. My arrow passed thru him and took out his liver , stomach and lung. He went 303 yards but the blood trail was great the whole way. He ran away after the shot up hill the whole way till he ran out into the open edge of the CRP field and then just dropped dead from blood loss. Nice of the good lord to bless us by having him run towards my parked SUV :nana: We took photos right where he dropped dead since it was such a pretty spot. I will get him scored and entered tomorrow for our team. Deb Nov 17 2020 buck 1.5.jpg Deb Nov 17 2020 buck 1.5.jpg Deb Nov 17 2020 buck 2.jpg Deb Nov 17 2020 buck 3.jpg

Were gonna have up to 50mph winds today, but firearm season starts tomorrow so I went and bought another doe & buck tag yesterday so I figured what the heck ... why not :bow:Im gonna wait till sunrise and go in and ground hunt this morning.

I did the morning ground hunt yesterday morning ... where I setup in a deadfall was out of the wind and actually a nice spot to sit , had the 7 point that I have passed up on multiple ocassions bed in the bottom of the draw for a while out of the wind and he then got up and moved by me at 23 yards and I passed on him again. He was the only deer I saw that morning.
The afternoon hunt WAS AWESOME. I again decided to do a ground hunt in a deadfall out of the wind. Seen a huge 10 point at 3:45 but he decided to take the trail farther away from me, 20 min later 135 inch 8 point at 15 yards walking straight on to me but he winded me, sunset 2 bucks chasing a doe behind me, I had that doe at 4 yards twice, she was almost in my lap ... and the 3rd time at 10 yards broadside. But the 2 bucks chasing her one wasnt a shooter and never got a real good look at the other buck that stayed behind me. So firearm season starts today here so no bowhunting again for me till monday.

Went out on Thursday and hung a new set. Hunted it and had a buck cruise the other side of the field. Grunted at him, stopped him, but he wasn't interested. Heading back out on Sunday. Good Hunting to everyone out this weekend!
