Think you hunt an earn a buck area if hunting same place as past years. Will that count there or still have to take a doe first?

Seen your post on the recent posts list and had to see if it was a buck or not

Im hunting IDNR owned public land now and starting last year they did away with the having to kill an antlerless before you can kill a buck, which was a 2 edged sword ... Pro / it will hopefully grow the doe numbers, CON / It really increased the # of hunters out there and dramatically increased the hunting pressure but they also put it in a restricted county which means you can only shoot bucks for the 1st 15 days of October. And of course I've been covered up in does for the 1st 15 days:bash:

I am heading out today. Lots of scrapes and rubs in the area. Will be close to 80 degrees. Can't wait for some cooler temps!

Finally started getting pictures of bucks in daylight checking out this doe bedding area, weather is less than ideal for tomorrow morning, but it’s the same weather as this morning was and they were there today!!! Hoping to finally put down a PA archery buck after 15years of trying IMG_3462.JPG

I usually avoid the public land on the weekends till rut due to the weekend hunters but I thought I would give it a try yesterday afternoon. I meet another hunter in the parking lot and we exchanged info on where we were going so we wouldnt be on top of each other. So I took my climber and off I went to the woods. Got to the spot I wanted to hunt for the 1st time and not a climbable tree there but a great deadfall right there so I setup in the deadfall. Not 5 minutes later a hunter walked in on me , he walked right thru the deer bedding area and started to set his stand up on a dead tree. I whistled to him multiple times and he was oblivious so I finally said " hey dude Im right here " so he apologized and said he didnt see me and I told him its okay Ill move you can have this spot. I didnt want to hunt it after he walked thru the bedding area.
So I found a new spot up a ravine near dropping acorns and about 330pm I hear sticks breaking and turn to see here comes another hunter walking in on me, I whistle and wave to him and he turns after he see me and walks away from me right thru another bedding area  So at this point Im really flustered and continplated moving again but Im already 20 foot up the tree so I said to heck with it Ill stay and try it here. NEVER SAW A SINGLE DEER, just a bunch of turkeys come and roost behind me, thank god I had at least an owl and turkeys to watch:usa: Gotta love public land sometimes.
