I fired quite a few more bolts from the crossbow yesterday and even did some broadhead shooting. Good to go for the 15th! I was talking to my dad last night at a family cookout and I asked him if there were acorns at the house. He said, yep its like walking on marbles. This is a good sign for the woods we hunt. If we have acorns at my parents, there are acorns in the woods we hunt! That and a boatload of rain we had over the summer should equal a good season.

Wish I could share videos here I put a Tactacam on a community scrape I found this spring on my private farm on Saturday and had three shooters hit it the last two nights. That’s crazy for me lol I have a velvet pic of one of them. There seems to be more bucks then normal around this year nothing giant but still awesome

There’s also a couple goofy ones running around. Man idk if y’all can see the pics or not (I can’t) I might have to use a computer later.

Just looked at the calendar and realized sept. 15th, the opener, is on a Friday! I already have Fridays off so, there's a win!! Start the season off by hunting 2 days in a row maybe, unless I shoot something opening morning!

starting training for a new job, nuclear plant operator, so my schedule is packed with a fiance and 3 kids. season opens sept 30th, i dont hunt too much early season unless im confident i can get a doe in an area i wont educate all of them. though ill be running the tactacams and hanging a few more stands in the coming weeks. have 2 really good bucks, north of 125, and a cpuple probably just under that. keep the updates coming!

I tweaked some stuff on my bow bc I wasn’t happy with the peep height. Going to dial it back in tomorrow. Theres a lot of bucks outa velvet and some new ones were showing up. Been so dang hot out 92* today the movement has been slow. Temps are gonna lower to the 70’s starting tomorrow. I still have some more stand prep to do at the farm and need to get to Ohio this week to hang some cams and check for human presence at a couple public spots. Public keeps me sharp in Ohio, bc I’m pretty spoiled on private in Pa. It’s a give and take.

I can't remember, where abouts in PA are you? Western?

The long range forecast for the opener is calling for a high of 76, with a low of 62. and a 50% chance of rain. The weather peeps are already talking about hurricane lee. I have a feeling we're gonna get hit towards the end of next week. Typically if the local weather people are talking about it this early, it means they know there's a good chance of it coming close. Should make it interesting I guess!

ahh okay! I think I told you this before, but I lived in Greensburg for about 2 years after I got out of the army in 2001. I deployed to Iraq with a reserve unit from New Castle.

Damn I do remember that now, that is where I grew up! I moved to North Huntingdon 7 years ago, 15 mins west of greensburg. I’m still always in Greensburg. If you’re ever out this way get ahold of me and if it’s in hunting season bring your gear will kill critters!
