Congrats @RevMS ! I’m back from Ohio, I ended up just scouting a ton and hunting the evening, saw a small buck. Back home now and got a good plan for later in the month. I’ll be back out for a couple days next temp drop then for 10 days during rut. In the mean time I’m gonna focus on getting some jobs done and hopefully get on a buck in Pa.

Just checking in, watching the thread to see how you all are doing. Nice does, who is going to tag the first buck? 3 weeks until I start hunting. My plan is to plug a doe as soon as possible, than hold out for a good buck.

I was able to make it out Saturday morning and got skunked.
I'm planning out my rut-hunting without taking too much time off from work as I'm an independent contractor/fee-for-service clinician. I'm considering taking a Wednesday and Thursday off the week of oct 30th-nov 3rd, and the week of November 6th-10th, that way I'll have 4 straight days of hunting in a row each week. I'm 99% positive I can't go anywhere this year to hunt besides my local places, so I gotta make the best of what I have to work with. It's a little late to start getting in shape now for something that is 2-3 weeks away, but I'm thinking of walking a few miles every night to get a bit of stamina so I can hit up my deep spots for my best chance at a buck.

Better late than never, Sounds like a solid plan! I’m up in the tree now, starting to have new bucks show up and a couple props. Hoping something good slips up!

I’m sitting in my beast stand on public for the first time this year. I didn’t make it to the spot I was headed to because I came across a scrape next to a oak that was dropping acorns right next to the path with lots of fresh tracks in the sand. I’d love to just put some meat in the freezer

I'm pretty picky so might be a bit before I shoot a buck. Only one buck tag in Ky. other than pubic bonus tag at Fort Knox. Last year I killed in velvet in early September, year before that I got blanked targeting a specific buck and year before that I didn't kill until late December, but it was nice buck I think in the 150s if I remember right. I think I will eventually kill a buck with the bow, but might be awhile.

Been having a lot of new deer show up in Ohio and Pa on scrapes, temps are warming up this week. When they drop back off it should be killer. Good luck out there guys!

I only saw one doe about 100 yards away this weekend. Been out 3 times so far and only deer I have had in range is little 6 pointer. Haven’t even hunted the main property yet that starts this coming week. I was hoping to get a doe down before I went there so I wouldn’t be tempted at the first one I see there. Might still try public a time or two before I head up there so that could still happen. The best days are right in front of us gents good luck out there.

temps in the mid 70s will keep me out of the woods this weekend, but the cold snap next week will have me sitting all day friday and saturday

Just a week until I leave. I may be doing something I never thought I would. I might be using a crossbow. Between my shoulder PT not coming along like I would like and my arthritis I am just having a hard time shooting good groups. Sometimes it is just a struggle to pull it back.

I have a 3 day rut hunt at my usual spot coming up this Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. The big front will be pushing through All of Wednesday, and temps are gonna plummet right after it. I couldn't ask for better hunting conditions! I'll be doing 3 all day sits in a row unless I get a hit. Temps are going to be in the mid 20s and highs in the low 40s. If it's brown, its down.
