I realized something yesterday. If you shoot a deer you should probably get pictures before you process it. My bad guys but I will get another slickhead soon. It was nice to put my first deer down for this year.

I'm getting my season started this evening  ....new stand on a new farm. I'm not overly excited about this spot, but it's the only stand I have that vibes with this crazy SE wind we're having in OH.

Well as expected I didn't get to hunt the opener this past weekend. I am hoping that I will be able to get a sit or 2 in this weekend though.

    Good Luck Teammates!

Well heres the past due update from nc......shot a pretty good buck last Tuesday, good for my standards anyway. Well I had pretty good sized blood pools just 40 yards from the shot. I think must have hit him a little forward into the opposite shoulder.....arrow kicked out without a clean pass threw. Anyway long story short........still haven't freaking found that deer! Sorry team! I'm still sick!!

Wow thats sucks...sorry to hear. That has happened to me before. You do everything you possibly can to no avail. Just keep your chin up and continue on with the season is the best you can do.For what its worth...when that happened to me, I killed a bigger buck later that year then the one that got away so maybe it happened for a reason.

I feel your pain. Just have to shake it off and move on. You have a great season to look forward to!

Update in the northwoods: The last two weeks have been a blur. Of course opening weekend can never be a laid back in the stand kinda of weekend. I lost my grandpa three days before and his funeral was on opener. Family in from out of town and all that stuff. I did manage to sneak out on Monday and had very little luck. Got to see some deer. All of them does and fawns.

This past weekend I did go out Sat night and all day Sunday. Sat night I was in the stand for about ten mins and had a group od does feed through on some acorns. Nothing to shoot at. Sunday morning I saw a black bear and a loan doe. Again nothing to shoot at yet. Sunday night it started raining and I didnt see anything.

I will be out this weekend with the intention of shooting a nice big Swamp Donkey. I will keep ya alll posted.

    Ty

Yeah it was real good blood for about 80-100 yards, then just stopped. I also forgot tomention that it absolutley poured the rain that night. There's no water on that side of where I shot him at, and I took a friend back in and we walked in circles.....there are some really thick laurel thickets that I'm going to have to crawl through.
